Wayfairers Posted December 8, 2015 #1 Share Posted December 8, 2015 Has anyone visited the Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital? What did you think of the tour?
Wayfairers Posted December 9, 2015 Author #2 Share Posted December 9, 2015 So no one has visited this hospital? It sounded interesting to us, but you never know so I was hoping to get info from someone who has been there.
Rare Keith1010 Posted December 12, 2015 #3 Share Posted December 12, 2015 I've been to Abu Dhabi and think it is a fascinating city. They clearly have money and have made substantial investments. I like it way over Dubai. But this is one we didn't visit. Keith
Wayfairers Posted December 12, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted December 12, 2015 Thanks for the input. Happy you like Abu Dhabi more than Dubai! It was an add on when Egypt stop was cancelled.
Rare Keith1010 Posted December 12, 2015 #5 Share Posted December 12, 2015 Wayfairers I would recommend a visit to the Grand Mosque. I have visited several mosques but never one of this sheer size. It is sort of the Taj Mahal of this area. Keith
suron Posted December 13, 2015 #6 Share Posted December 13, 2015 Wayfairers I would recommend a visit to the Grand Mosque. I have visited several mosques but never one of this sheer size. It is sort of the Taj Mahal of this area. Keith Agree wholeheartedly. The Grand Mosque is breathtaking. Another place I can recommend is the Emirates Palace Hotel. If you feel like splashing out go there for Afternoon Tea (do it independently so as not to be rushed around and overcharged by the cruise line excursion). If not then a wander round the hotel is an experience in itself. It would be possible to combine both sights during a day in port - there are plenty of taxi drivers who would be willing to take you to the mosque, wait and then take you on to the hotel. Avoid the tour operators who wait like vultures at the port gates - they will overcharge you. If you haggle with the licenced taxi drivers you will get a good deal. The Emirates Palace will arrange a taxi for you back to the ship. You will not be disappointed. Suzanne
lilybob Posted December 19, 2015 #7 Share Posted December 19, 2015 We enjoyed our visit to the Falcon Hospital. The staff was informative and it includes a visit to the area where the falcons are awaiting different grooming treatments and a great photo op. I would rate my places to visit in Abu Dhabi as #1 Sheik Zayed Grand Mosque-not to be missed #2 Emirates Palace Hotel #3 Falcon Hospital If you are there a full day or overnight you could probably visit all three. If your trip is in 2017, you may be fortunate enough to have one of the new museums open....then that will change the order! SZGM would still top the list.
