neverbeenhere Posted December 15, 2015 Author #51 Share Posted December 15, 2015 (edited) bridge tour frequently free. Or at least, I haven't paid for it. They sometimes have the Behind the Scenes tour combo that they give at a charge. Bridge, Galley, Back Stage, Engine control room. PSR Posted December 15, 2015 #52 Share Posted December 15, 2015 http://cruiseassist.assist-card.com/ I looked at the site and tried to get a quote but I couldn't find "United States" on the list of "country departing from" to get a quote. Am I doing something wrong, or is it not available to US residents? Penny:confused:
neverbeenhere Posted December 15, 2015 Author #53 Share Posted December 15, 2015 I called the Cruise assist company: Seems to be mainly for non-US residents. BUT US residents are routed to a different phone number: 866-477-6741 option 2 Star travel insurance?? I didn't bother to follow through all the way. from a member. PSR Posted December 15, 2015 #54 Share Posted December 15, 2015 from a member. Guess I also missed all the "no US listed" comments earlier in the thread:o I read the early part only and posted later. Then I noticed that everyone who knew about it appeared to be non-US posters.
Aussie Gal Posted December 15, 2015 #55 Share Posted December 15, 2015 http://cruiseassist.assist-card.com/ That card is amazing and Australia is one of the countries that it covers. I will look into this further down the track. Thanks so much for starting this wonderful post neverbeenhere. Much appreciated. Jennie
sammamishcruiser Posted December 15, 2015 #56 Share Posted December 15, 2015 Do you recall what you paid for the bridge tour? Thank you! Didn't pay anything! Also I forgot to mention, you can also ask for an engine room tour. Never done that, but a couple we were traveling with did and HE said it was very interesting. Her, not so much!! Lol! Beanb41 Posted December 16, 2015 #60 Share Posted December 16, 2015 Can you still use your OBC for Specialty Restaurants? Will the Casino give you cash back on OBO? Ray Hi Ray Yes to use of OBC for Specialty Restaurants and Officially No to getting money from OBC out of the Casino but reports as short as a week ago state that it is still possible with a 5% fee. Other reports indicate that some ships are denying cashing in of OBC. I guess one will have to suck it and see when you get onboard. It appears that X are trying to close this loophole especially with non refundable OBC
Dall Posted December 16, 2015 #61 Share Posted December 16, 2015 When you first board, go to guest relations and ask if they are giving bridge tours. We have done this on most of our cruises and they are very accommating! Always have gotten to tour the bridge. Very interesting!!Melody Wow! Do you think it matters if you are elite, etc.? dodger1964 Posted December 16, 2015 #65 Share Posted December 16, 2015 Wow! Do you think it matters if you are elite, etc.? The last time we cruised I inquired to the elite contact, let her know we were interested in any event like bridge tour or helipad sailaway. We got didley squat! I did have tv on during sailaway one day and saw the helipad party! Elite is very subjective!

neverbeenhere Posted December 16, 2015 Author #67 Share Posted December 16, 2015 Yes: Suites, Zenith and Elite+ get invites to the helipad, if it is happening. Since there seems to be a million suite guests, it can be quite large groups. But, I've seen times when the Elite were invited. I would talk(kiss up)to the Captain's Club Host, if I was Elite and really wanted to go.

Amazing views, but the event was short lived, even though the transit of the fiords lasted for 4 hrs. We transferred to the Sky lounge on deck 14 after the party broke up, where we actually had better views.
