daniel1974 Posted December 18, 2015 #1 Share Posted December 18, 2015 Hi, we're on the Explorer of the Seas leaving Sydney on December 24th (13 nights) We are thinking about pre-purchasing a "dining package" - options are 3-5 nights. If you do, it says the first restaurants will be booked automatically either on the first or second night of the cruise. Given the second night is Christmas night...will there be anything special if you are booked in one of these specialty restaurants, or is it best to not risk being put in a restaurant when the Xmas celebrations will all be in the main dining hall? Also when do you find out which nights are formal nights, is it once you get on board, or is it announced on a daily basis - as we want to attend them - and don't want our specialty dining nights to clash. Then it says if it's an a-la-carte restaurant you get $30 credit towards dining. So for instance if you look at the menu of Giovanni's table - there are no prices on that menu, whereas Chops Grille and Izumi both have menu pricing - so for menus with prices, do you get $30 credit towards your total bill? However, like where is the saving, if a 4 night specialty dining package is $120/person - that's $30/night in any case?
Clarea Posted December 18, 2015 #2 Share Posted December 18, 2015 ... The Cruise Compass will list the suggested dining attire. Each evening as part of the turn down service, you will receive the next day's Cruise Compass.
