cruisescrapper Posted December 28, 2015 #1 Share Posted December 28, 2015 We are cruising out of Port Canaveral and are flying into MCO prior to our cruise. We can get a really great rate to fly out of Sanford but would mean staying 2 more nights in Florida after the cruise. The cost will be worth it for the flight savings. I am not familiar with Sanford airport at all. Where would anyone recommend we stay for these 2 extra nights? Stay in Cocoa beach area or head back to Orlando area? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
cindy1957 Posted December 28, 2015 #2 Share Posted December 28, 2015 The airport itself is easy to navigate.
cindy1957 Posted December 28, 2015 #3 Share Posted December 28, 2015 It will take about 1.5 hours to get to the Sanford Orlando Airport.
cindy1957 Posted December 28, 2015 #4 Share Posted December 28, 2015 Another option to research on that side of Orlando is the Winter Park area.
skrufy Posted December 29, 2015 #5 Share Posted December 29, 2015 The Orlando-Sanford Airport is in Sanford about 20 miles north of downtown Orlando. Its a nice airport to fly in and out of, never crowded. What you would like to do would determine where you stay. Cocoa Beach for the beach, Orlando for the parks, and Daytona Beach which is about 25 miles north of Sanford also for the beach ( just a few suggestions ). FYI, the airport is along side route 46. Its a two lane road through rural Florida. Easy to get to, take I-95 north to route 46 west.
Iamthesea Posted March 23, 2016 #6 Share Posted March 23, 2016 How far is this airport to Disney World and how would one get to Disney?...preferably using a car service or taxi? Would be flying in around 7:00PM.
SteerageJoe Posted March 23, 2016 #7 Share Posted March 23, 2016 (edited) How far is this airport to Disney World and how would one get to Disney?...preferably using a car service or taxi? Would be flying in around 7:00PM. It took us an hour and 15 minutes a few weeks ago to Epcot. I-4 was somewhat slow that day. As you walk out of the terminal, cross the road into the ground transportation area where you will find rental cars and shuttles/taxis. Orlando Carriers has a booth for shuttles - see link. Iamthesea Posted March 23, 2016 #8 Share Posted March 23, 2016 Thank you so much for the information. Not sure if we will fly into Sanford or not. I found some relatively inexpensive tickets on Allegiant, but then there's the hassle. I just found some reasonable tickets to fly into MCO. jonbiz1212 Posted March 23, 2016 #9 Share Posted March 23, 2016 https://www.goportcanaveral.com/fly-snooze-cruise/orlando-sanford-airport Check them out they provide transportation from Sanford airport to the hotel, and to the cruise ship and back for a great price. If you're looking to stay extra days they will do custom orders to however you want it. I do believe they offer private transportation for the parks and everything but you might find it cheaper and more convenient getting a rental or booking one of their hotel partners in Orlando that offers those shuttles. skrufy Posted March 23, 2016 #10 Share Posted March 23, 2016 FYI, Disney is about 30 miles south of sanford/Orlando.
Iamthesea Posted March 24, 2016 #11 Share Posted March 24, 2016 Thank you. I thought it further away. That's good news, but I am pretty sure we are now flying directly into MCO. :)
