refund of obc in the casino

For an upcoming cruise we will have much more in obc than we can spend. Balance should be refundable as it is thru the Carnival M/C.

 

Believe we will receive a check in the mail for outstanding balance.

 

That is ok but if we wish to use some of it in the casino will they charge us the 3% they have in the past to to convert of obc to chips?

They don't charge 3% off of OBC "only" to convert to chips.

They charge 3% to convert anything charged to your on board account and convert into chips.

 

Buy a shirt in the shops, you charge it to your on board account.

You don't have 2 accounts. 1 for OBC and 1 for on board account.

You have 1 on board account that has credits and then it has debits.

Let's assume that you have $205 that you know you want to "clear out". Just find a friendly looking slot machine. Load $200 off your "Sign-n-Sail" card. Pull off a dollar or two, then cash out, back to your card. Take your "Sign-n-Sail" card to the cashier in the casino, and ask for a cash out. You'll get the $195 or so, or you might even have hit a few bucks on those couple of pulls. It's always worked for me, even when the balance was NOT refundable. ;)

You're confusing 2 different things

If you go to a slot machine, put $200 in your "slot bank" from your on board account,,,, play a couple of pulls,,,, close out your "slot bank",,,, then go cash out at the casino guest services,,,, no 3%

 

and No, OBC is NOT your money. It is nothing more than a credit to your account that you have access to.

Thanks for showing me the distinction. The thing to do than is get money out of slot machine, walk over to casino guest services and than get the chips I want and play a table game.

 

However since most of the obc comes as a credit via a Carnival M/C it is really mine. Still second guessing myself for doing it this way but that is another story.
