Boytjie Posted January 8, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 8, 2016 There's a new captain in town (or onboard), so let's see if the Westerdam starts the music when the Delbert McClinton's Sandy Beaches Cruise charter (blues music) sets sail, scheduled for 16:00/4:00 PM EDT (subject to change as always). Royal Princess wil add to the musical theme with her Love Boat Theme toots. The webcams are at: http://portevergladeswebcam.com/ http://ftlauderdalewebcam.com/ Also departing: Royal Princess, Carnival Conquest, Oasis Of The Seas and Navigator Of The Seas. In Key West (http://keywestharborwebcam.com/) the Eurodam departs at 17:00/5:00 PM EDT. Westerdam's 7-day Delbert McClinton's Sandy Beaches Cruise charter itinerary: Jan 09 Ft. summer slope Posted January 8, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 8, 2016 Thanks Peter. I'll be here. Never realized they took cruise ships to Cruz Bay St. John. Now that is exciting. Love St. John.

Boytjie Posted January 8, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted January 8, 2016 Thanks Peter. I'll be here. Never realized they took cruise ships to Cruz Bay St. John. Now that is exciting. Love St. John. It is not a regular port of call but for charters they will do it; in 2009 our RSVP charter itinerary was Grand Turk, San Juan, St John and Half Moon Cay. St John is a tender port. Lauderdale, Florida I may have been among one of the last pax to hear Cpt Van Eerten's final toot before vacation. They were with us at Half Moon and as we left - we [ZUDM] gave 3 toots they responded with three toots and then added 5-6 more in his normal prolonged toots with interspersed short toots. I wish I had been recording it on my camera, but I had never heard anyone toot to leave Half Moon [including 2 days previous]. What a missed opportunity. :( Edited January 8, 2016 by Happily@Sea

St Pete Cruiser Posted January 9, 2016 #17 Share Posted January 9, 2016 it is a wind still morning as Westerdam returns. Captain Vincent Smit probably much less enthusiastic with the horn. I was disappointed not to meet Captain Van Eerten before he left at St Thomas. The crew director and officers were well aware of his "Queen of the Toots" reputation. I made a point of it to tell them at several opportunities. Thanks Peter for the info on the next charter itinerary. We wanted to do Tortola by ferry, but in my haste to catch it, forgot my passport which you need. Next time or next cruise.

Rare POA1 Posted January 9, 2016 #19 Share Posted January 9, 2016 Hoping that the Westerdam still lives up to its reputation. We have some people coming over for cruise ship cocktails today. There's a little fog this morning, but nice weather is forecast.

Rare POA1 Posted January 9, 2016 #21 Share Posted January 9, 2016 I find it unusual to see palm trees standing still. Smooth Sailing! :) :) :) The wind's from the west at about 12 mph. That's off the land. I was just down at the beach and the breeze is noticeable, but it's coming in the opposite direction from the usual. Not as windy as it has been though. summer slope Posted January 9, 2016 #24 Share Posted January 9, 2016 (edited) Wondering if the current captain will be doing our March 12th cruise. Nevermind, got that question answered. I certainly hope he isn't stingy with the toots. Edited January 9, 2016 by summer slope
