rbelfi Posted January 13, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 13, 2016 Specifically in Balcony Staterooms, are there USB ports for charging devices or should I bring an outlet to utilize?
Rare BillOh Posted January 13, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 13, 2016 Unless they were added since 2013, you will need to bring an outlet type.

Merion_Mom Posted January 13, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 13, 2016 Specifically in Balcony Staterooms, are there USB ports for charging devices or should I bring an outlet to utilize? I take this on every cruise: http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-SurgePlus-3-Outlet-Charger-Protector/dp/B00ATZJ5YS/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1452701200&sr=8-2&keywords=belkin+outlet+usb
Rare fletch1027 Posted January 13, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 13, 2016 I have used that one and it is good to give you USB + outlets, however both USB ports are the slower 1.2 amp type. If you are looking for something to quickly charge tablets, smartphones, etc, I would suggest something like this (the tradeoff being speed for losing an outlet). This unit has a 5 foot cord that plugs into an outlet (and is pretty cheap also - currently $12): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KBMRNQG?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00 I take this on every cruise: http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-SurgePlus-3-Outlet-Charger-Protector/dp/B00ATZJ5YS/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1452701200&sr=8-2&keywords=belkin+outlet+usb

I guess you didn't check MM's link because this Belkin has 2.1 amp outlets. I charges both my Ipad Air & phone quickly. RFerrington Posted January 13, 2016 #8 Share Posted January 13, 2016 I take this on every cruise: http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-SurgePlus-3-Outlet-Charger-Protector/dp/B00ATZJ5YS/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1452701200&sr=8-2&keywords=belkin+outlet+usb I used this same charger on my last cruise and found that it does not fit well in the outlets on the vanity. When you plug it into the outlet, there is barely sufficient room beneath to plug in your devices' USB charger connection. It will fit - just barely - but you have to crimp the charger cord to make it fit. Unfortunately, there is only one way that the charger unit can be plugged in (the prongs don't toggle or spin). I found this charging unit to be less than useful.

The link points to information showing the prong being able to rotate 360 Degrees.
Doug S Posted January 13, 2016 #10 Share Posted January 13, 2016 Also, check by the headboard/nightstand. Our balcony Oasis room had a double outlet there that many seem to forget about so you could charge your phone bedside and not deal with crowded vanity issues. There is a little white button that you have to press.

Yep, you are correct. There has been a newer one that's come out since I bought mine a few years ago. Looks like they still sell the older version with the 1A ports, so if anyone gets one, make sure to buy the newer version for a few $$ more... N41EF Posted January 13, 2016 #15 Share Posted January 13, 2016 Here's my thought after the Brilliance, since they have no alarm clocks: http://www.brandstand.com/products/power-and-charging/cubietime Simple alarm clock. 2 usb and 2 power outlets. They make a bluetooth version if you want to stream music. Well made, designed for hotels.

I use an IMUTO,should fit without crimping but if not just look under desk. Edited January 14, 2016 by janrey1234
fredflint Posted January 14, 2016 #21 Share Posted January 14, 2016 I brought a long extension cord with a 3 way plug on the end, not a power strip connected my charger to it, then used another charger with a long cord and a 10' Apple Lightning cable to charge the wife's iPhone under the bed.
