wuppis Posted January 19, 2016 #285 Share Posted January 19, 2016 I´ve never seen such as tasteful (is this the right word?) carpet in a casino, onboard a ship or in Vegas. Looks really good.
Lloyd555 Posted January 20, 2016 #286 Share Posted January 20, 2016 Liking this thread and all its photos. Thank you for sharing. I am trying to follow the refurbishment of the Liberty of the Seas as well, but there's not much in photos coming from people on the ship like there is for the Azamara Journey. Hoping to at least catch a glimpse of the slide construction at the aft end of the ship. I have some friends here that are big water slide fans. Rare Host Jazzbeau Posted January 20, 2016 #287 Share Posted January 20, 2016 I´ve never seen such as tasteful (is this the right word?) carpet in a casino, onboard a ship or in Vegas. Looks really good. Yes, it's the right word -- and I agree with your opinion. Maybe they should have used this in the cabins and put that "scene of the crime" carpet in the casino! Lottie A Posted January 20, 2016 #290 Share Posted January 20, 2016 I just got back from my worst cruise ever on a huge, glitzy, modern ship. I am so happy to see these pics of Journey and her amazing transformation and I can't wait to be back on an Azamara ship very soon.
tiggertom Posted January 20, 2016 #291 Share Posted January 20, 2016 This is a fab thread, Andy, seeing the new ship appearing from the mess of the building site. Can't wait to see her "in person" next month. Thanks again for getting this information to us wherever we are. :D
triona Posted January 20, 2016 #292 Share Posted January 20, 2016 We can't thank you enough for the photo's and information on here. We were to sail on the Quest this April and were at the time very disappointed to learn of her refit. We decided to book the Journey for January 2017 as the ports of call were to our liking, we are now so glad that we did. After seeing the photo's I'm sure we will not be disappointed. Looking forward to seeing a lo more and also the live news for when she sets sail after refit. Once again a big thank you for all the information and photo's. The transformation is looking really great. I'm particularly interested to see how The Patio (pool grill area) and poolside will look with the new ceiling and fans installed. I think it will be a very nice area of the ship. Phil

Phil Yes it was Phil. H probably told you? Never again! The ship and suite were glitzy, but apart from that the Piu Gusto beverage package was the only good thing onboard! :D I agree about The Patio area looking nice. We never used it much before but I think we will now.
oliveau Posted January 20, 2016 #295 Share Posted January 20, 2016 What a project - I hadn't realised how much was going to be renewed. After 4 Az cruises I'd been tempted to try O, but now I feel guilty that I'd even contemplated 'desertion'.
Yosemitephil Posted January 20, 2016 #296 Share Posted January 20, 2016 Quite incredible at the pace these people are going but then I read today there are 1,500 contractors involved. It is a great way of seeing a transformation of a ship from bow to stern or stern to bow depending on your preference. Pleased that we will be on the ship in February so soon after it is all completed, the luggage tickets and boarding instructions came today, we must be getting closer. midwestchick Posted January 20, 2016 #297 Share Posted January 20, 2016 Has anyone ever mentioned the cost involved in the refit? I'm sure the labor costs alone are staggering.
Grandma Cruising Posted January 20, 2016 #298 Share Posted January 20, 2016 I think the 1500 people was contractors and 400 crew - still a lot of people, and wages to be paid to both sets. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Hoyaheel Posted January 20, 2016 #299 Share Posted January 20, 2016 In addition to the crew of 400 there will be 600 contractors from around the world working on the dry dock. I think the 1500 people was contractors and 400 crew I'm more inclined to believe it's around 1000 people total. I think the 1500 number came from the galley - how many people they are feeding every day?
