dmk Posted January 26, 2016 #126 Share Posted January 26, 2016 The Mexican Peso has terrific value against the Canadian dollar. We are planning to spend our time in Mexico instead of cruising until things turnaround. It is quite a change for us since we have been taking 2 cruises a year since 2002. Rare richstowe Posted January 26, 2016 #127 Share Posted January 26, 2016 Another side effect of the CDN dollars slide is in price drops. My current Oct 10th sailing has seen a $400US price drop per person in a balcony, but yet the price is still the same for me because of the drop in value. With the exchange rate it works out to $1000 CDN total extra for the two of us. You believe that the falling loonie has effected demand enough to result in price decreases ? I am less sure of that then you . Many have posted that the prices for their cruises have greatly increased from when they originally booked .What I am sure of is that the cruise lines are no longer offering exchange rate "deals" . :( On my last 3 cruises , I booked direct with the cruise lines because of these deals .I am no longer finding these currency exchange bargains . What I'm saying is that my cruise is struggling to find passengers because it doesn't seem to be a popular itinerary. I booked at about an $.80 CDN-US. Celebrity readjusted their pricing in CDN upward in early in January to reflect the CDN dollars slide to $.70. Since then he price in US dollars is now $400 cheaper and yet my price right now is still the same even though there has been a price drop in the CDN prices as well.
