Fireguy29 Posted January 17, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 17, 2016 The Mrs. and I just returned from a 12 night on the Anthem. One of those nights, while at dinner, we began discussing the tomato garnish that seems to pop up different meals, room service etc.. on all the RCI ships we've been on. I began to wonder, how many tomatos do they go through?, and how many get tossed because of people like me who don't eat the tomato garnish. I said I thought the majority of them probably went back to the kitchen. You would think we would have much better things to discuss on a cruise, right? Anyway, she kiddingly suggested I start a poll here to satisfy my curiosity. So, here it is... Do you eat the fried tomato garnish, or is it just fish food? davelliott Posted January 17, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 17, 2016 I always eat mine. Nobody else in my family does so I usually eat theirs too.
Pumbaamd Posted January 17, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 17, 2016 (edited) I'm just like Dave. And cooked tomatoes are very good for you! Let's start a parsley poll. 1ParticularHbr Posted January 17, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 17, 2016 I don't consider the grilled tomato that comes with room service breakfast a garnish. I've always thought of it as part of the meal. I eat it.

I don't really like raw tomatoes unless they are grown in my garden or my parents garden, so I rarely eat them raw anywhere. I pick them off sandwiches if I forget to tell them not to put them on. I don't really like grilled tomatoes anyway-just singed raw tomatoes to me. So, NO.

39august Posted January 17, 2016 #7 Share Posted January 17, 2016 Yes, part of the meal to me. But I can't vote as there is no choice for grilled tomatoes. They are not fried.
spookwife Posted January 17, 2016 #8 Share Posted January 17, 2016 hate red tomatoes. only time I ever eat them is on a BLT. usually the breakfast one is a roma or cherry so I don't feel bad about not eating it.

pandaball Posted January 18, 2016 #12 Share Posted January 18, 2016 I swear this next cruise I'm going to set my alarm to get to the MDR for breakfast just so I can experience the legendary tomato.
Pumbaamd Posted January 18, 2016 #13 Share Posted January 18, 2016 No need to lose any sleep over this. Sometimes you will sea them in the WJ displayed between the scrambled eggs and the turkey sausage. R&D
pandaball Posted January 18, 2016 #14 Share Posted January 18, 2016 (edited) Yes but can I have the full tomato experience without the proper ambiance? :p Edited January 18, 2016 by pandaball
Pumbaamd Posted January 18, 2016 #15 Share Posted January 18, 2016 OK, get up early. Go to the MDR. Enjoy your tomato. Next, go to the pool bar, have a Bloody Mary, or two, to continue your tomato theme. Next, on to the WJ, and try their tomatoes to get the whole, full, complete tomato adventure. Let us know how it all comes out. If you write a good review, RCCL may sell this as an on board tour. R&D
