HleeCruiser Posted October 6, 2005 #1 Share Posted October 6, 2005 We are going in early and staying in Santiago prior to our cruise. Does anyone have any info (other than cruiseline) about transfers that are reliable and reasonable in price? Thanks.
d5480 Posted October 6, 2005 #2 Share Posted October 6, 2005 Several years ago my wife and I rode the public bus. The main bus station in Santiago has regular service all day and the bus station in Valparaiso is close to the dock.
daju22 Posted October 6, 2005 #3 Share Posted October 6, 2005 Hello, You will find alot of information on the South America board. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=76 They helped alot for our cruise last year. Just search for transfer. Have a super cruise! I'd go back tomorrow. Where are you sailing?
Liat Posted October 7, 2005 #4 Share Posted October 7, 2005 D 5480 is correct. We did the same thing when we did this cruise on Mercury in January 2002. It cost us more to get a taxi to the downtown bus station than for the trip to Valparaiso, which was on a thoroughly nice inter-city bus, with reserved seats and plenty of room for our luggage. Read my review under my name: Philip M. Haggerty at http://www.cruisereviews.com for a more complete history of the boarding process. You click Celebrity and scroll down the ships names until you click on Mercury and look for my name. This was one of our best cruises. My review has some good suggestions on excursions, especially if you are visiting the Falkland Islands.
