ClayoftheLake Posted January 19, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 19, 2016 Hello all, just back from the Sky and thought I'd share what they did during the recent wet dock. All public area carpets with the exception of the casino and room hallways were replaced. They could not replace the casino carpet because the process of removing the game tables and slots and then returning them and ensuring all the security camera angles were correct would have been too extensive for such a short wet dock. Also they did some minor tech updates to some crew areas. I was told by a member of staff that they are in the process of changing the carpets in the guest cabins as well, but that they are doing those a few at a time during normal ship operations. The ship is still has quite a bit of Hawaiian decor, but it does not seem out of place (even on a Bahamas cruise) and even gives the ship some charm. The ship also still has the floral hull art, and from what I gathered from a member of staff is that the hull art will most likely remain as a tribute to the ship's past. cruizecrazygramma Posted January 20, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 20, 2016 A recent post on another forum indicated that the pools were empty the entire 3 day cruise. Poster claimed the seas were not overly rough. Can you confirm and was any explanation offered by the cruiseline?
Mayertwins1 Posted January 23, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 23, 2016 I was on this cruise and yes both pools were empty for all 3 days. The adult was open for day 1 and 2.5 but then stopped. Also only two of the whirlpools were open and no info from ncl was given about it
BVIArabella Posted January 23, 2016 #6 Share Posted January 23, 2016 Hope that doesn't happen February 8TH! Thanks for the information.
Rare BirdTravels Posted January 24, 2016 #7 Share Posted January 24, 2016 Thanks for the update. We actually like the legacy Hawaiian decor. I suppose the alternative is no real decor or theme like the Getaway and Escape.

I never really noticed the pools being closed because pool time was not a priority for me, so I never asked, but I will say I did see maintenance personnel painting the sides of one of the pools so perhaps that was one of the reasons. Also we had rough seas for the first and last nights, so I don't know if they were closed for that reason either.
