going on July 28th. Decided to book St Petersburg tours through the ship rather than Red October . Did not feel comfortable giving $1,000 to a Russian company. Same cost, but probably more crowded. What are you doing there?

Yes, we are on the same sailing as you. We already have booked a 2 day tour with Denrus and would love to have another couple join us. I can e-mail the information to you if you give me your address.

Oskidunker - Although the ship does keep part of the tour cost, the majority of it goes to the local tour company, so if you are taking a ship's tour in St Petersburg you are giving your money to the Russians. Also, most independent groups are 2-8 people - far less than any organized group from the ship, and if you do the 2 day complete St Petersburg tour the ship offers, the cost is $315 per person, so for two it is very close in cost to the much more personal private tour. IMHO, the private tours are the only way to go
