Ebony J Posted February 7, 2016 #26 Share Posted February 7, 2016 I'm wondering about the stop in Staunton. It looks on the itinerary as just a stop for an overnight stay..nothing mentioned about a tour in that area. Is that correct? Or are you there early enough to wander on your own? Hi Jeanne From memory, we arrived in Staunton about 3.30-4pm. It is a beautiful little town with some lovely little gift shops. We were able to get a bus, which took you round the town for about $1 then went into a pizzeria and back to the hotel for Happy Hour;) Just prior to this stop, we went to Tredegar Iron Works, which was absolutely fascinating..... they showed you inside a cannonball - sets you up nicely for Gettysburg (everything on this trip is done for a reason). Nice breakfast at this hotel. The following night, we stayed at the Wyndham. I think we got there about 4.30-5pm. This hotel sits in the middle of nowhere, but right next to a multiplex cinema and a restaurant both of which we visited. Christine

Sounds like they keep you completely focused on the tour...and that's great.... I suspect once we land on the ship we will need a good nights rest!! :)
MauiGOOT Posted June 24, 2016 #28 Share Posted June 24, 2016 I hope this thread isn't 'dead' :). We're considering the Historic Americas Land tour for next year. Just curious about dress code. Is 'smart casual' ok, or are there times for anything more dressy (and if so, would that be mandatory?). Also, what did you do about laundry? We travel very light, with only a carry on each, so rely on laundry periodically. I'm thinking on a 7 day trip, we'd need to get some done by the 3rd or 4th day and then the rest can wait until we board the ship. Thank you for all the great details above! NorthernCACruisers Posted July 5, 2016 #29 Share Posted July 5, 2016 We have signed up the CAN/NE pre cruise Land Tour - Colonial America. September/October 2016. This is our 1st Land Tour on a bus for a week. Can you tell me if there is any "independent" down time away from the group. If we see something we would like to explore - is that an option or is this controlled totally by tour operator? We are experienced cruisers - looking forward to the Regal Princess.
