cruise44 Posted October 8, 2005 #1 Share Posted October 8, 2005 Thought I would try something fun. You see lists like this in massachusetts and I am sure other places where you write typical things that make you part of that group. I'll put the massachusetts example at the bottom. So i'll start off. You are a Cunard regular(or if anyone can think of something better) if: -You know that it is QE2 and never QE II. -You know that the "gray ghost" isn't something you see at halloween -You can name the current Cunard captains ....... Some examples of massachusetts to give you the idea: -Khakis are something you start the car with -You think crosswalks are for wimps -You think if someone's nice to you, they either want something or they are from out of town and probably lost -You know how to cross 4 lanes of traffic in 5 seconds -A Crown Victoria = Undercover Cop -The transportation system is known as the "T" -Subway is a fast food place -You could own a small town in Iowa for the cost of your house -There are 24 Dunkin Donuts shops within 15 minutes of your house -Six inches of snow is considered a "dusting" -Three days of 90+ heat is definitely a "heat wave" ... and 63° weather is "on the warm side -You do not recognize the letter "R" as a part of the English language. jbailey Posted October 9, 2005 #2 Share Posted October 9, 2005 ---If you know the 3rd floor self-service laundry room is the best place for gossip on QE2.
Calliope Posted October 9, 2005 #3 Share Posted October 9, 2005 If you know that Queen Elizabeth II named the QE2 the QUEEN ELIZABETH the SECOND and QM2 the QUEEN MARY 2 when she christened them.
guernseyguy Posted October 9, 2005 #4 Share Posted October 9, 2005 You know that on the QE2 its 'Upper Deck for the Lower Classes' as in the old two class layout First Class was on Quarter Deck. You know that on the QE2 the 'E' staircase stands for 'Everywhere' as its the only stair tower that has lifts that go to Every deck. You know that on the QE2 the best cabins are actually the Q3s on One and Two deck - not the suites tacked on to Signal and Sun deck (very new money, my dear) - as their midship, lower down location is a lot more stable. You know why there is a model of the Mauretania outside the Caronia dining room, and a painting of the Caronia in the Mauretania dining room You know that the Queens Grill was originally a disco. You know that its Queens Grill (named after the earlier Queen Liners, so plural) and the Queen's Room (named after HM QEII, so possessive)..... ......and finally..... .....You know that a Cunarder is a ship not a person;)
Cruising Ken Posted October 9, 2005 #5 Share Posted October 9, 2005 You know that when suffering from motion sickness on QE2 just call out C6 and someone will take you there.

tandemtourer Posted October 9, 2005 #8 Share Posted October 9, 2005 Captaintandemtourer submits for your consideration: You know you are a cunard regular if... ...You have difficulty using your room key because your fingers have formed the shape of a champagne glass. cruise44 Posted October 10, 2005 Author #9 Share Posted October 10, 2005 Great ideas! Keep them coming! - You have gone to the ships library at least once a day -You know where the staircase is on the QE2 that leads up to sun deck. - You can easily find the pursers desk on the QE2 - You know why the Queen Mary 2 has such a short stack -You've been through atleast three QE2 refits
Rotterdam Posted October 11, 2005 #10 Share Posted October 11, 2005 You're a Cunarder if you know what the Pig is! (extra points if you have been there). Clue - the PIG is not the woman who ate 3 entres at lunch!

mufi Posted October 11, 2005 #17 Share Posted October 11, 2005 Since 9/11 the engine room tours have been suspended. Does this mean that if you have only sailed with Cunard in the last few years you can't be a Cunarder?.... Sob!! David.
wripro Posted October 11, 2005 #18 Share Posted October 11, 2005 if, when you are planning to go to europe, your first reaction is to check Cunard's transatlantic schedule and not American Airlines.
Jim Avery Posted October 11, 2005 #19 Share Posted October 11, 2005 Wripro: Best one yet. For Rotterdam: An evening in the Pig & Whistle can best summarized by Jack to Rose in Titanic: "Want to go to a real party?" You can get a decent round of 301 there too. Rotterdam Posted October 11, 2005 #20 Share Posted October 11, 2005 Jim - On my first crossing on QE2 I was invited to the Pig - went through the kitchen & down the stairs...in black tie! - we had a ball & I remember chatting with long time waiters....I also did not get out of bed until late the next day. Yes it was a real party......the staff onboard are great - in the Pig they were spectacular! See you there?
Jim Avery Posted October 11, 2005 #21 Share Posted October 11, 2005 Hi Rotterdam: Sounds like the same sort of event I attended. Was amazed at how they all were chipper and smiling at work the next day as I barely made lunch. Must be the practice. Are you doing a QE2 transat any time in the next year or so? I would love to get in one more QE2 transatlantic. QM2 should be around in one form or the other for a good long time. All the best, Jim.
