kingsgirl Posted February 5, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 5, 2016 What tips should I know for buying a regular balcony room on Coral? It will be an a Northbound Alaskan cruise. Do I want a covered balcony? What about the humps? Should I be as far away as possible? It seems the lack of privacy on the corner may be annoying. What about the middle or inside of the hump? I notice that rooms go very high on this ship (compare to what I'm used to on Royal Caribbean) with rooms up to deck 12. Which deck would be best? We had rough seas last cruise and I couldn't imagine deck 12 would be fun in rough seas! Thank you!

Rain/Snow/wind/ and it can also get warm etc. We stay outside regardless of the weather! We try for a covered balcony. We stay away from the bumpout because of privacy as you mentioned. Here is a great site to see if a balcony is covered or not. http://www.cruisedeckplans.com/Princess/odell/res76zxu/princessbalconies/id3.html We like to go all the way forward or all the way aft so we have access to the forward and aft viewing areas. Thank you. I was looking at the website you mention and also the princess website for the deck plans, but they don't seem to match up? I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but the numbers don't match. Do you see something I don't? Here are the two pages. Caribe deck plans from web: http://www.cruisedeckplans.com/Princess/odell/res76zxu/princessbalconies/id3.html Caribe deck plans from Princess: https://book.princess.com/reserve/stateroom.do?sessionToken=5e4b2c71-34f3-483e-b06c-099aa279c9a7

Did you try and post a link when you were logged into your booking? I just looked at the Coral deck plans on the Princess website and they are the same. kingsgirl Posted February 5, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted February 5, 2016 I don't have a princess account, so no I wasn't logged in. Here is the link again. https://book.princess.com/reserve/stateroom.do?sessionToken=5e4b2c71-34f3-483e-b06c-099aa279c9a7 Click "choose my own" and then Forward Caribe deck. The number/letters from Princess start at C101 but the other website start at C201. I don't know what I'm doing wrong :(

Need to just go to the main Princess page and choose ships/Coral/deck plans

Learning a new cruise line is stressful :( Edited February 5, 2016 by kingsgirl
testerlady Posted February 7, 2016 #8 Share Posted February 7, 2016 I have one other suggestion. You want to be on the side of the ship that is facing the land. The views are wonderful. Otherwise, you'll see mostly water.
katisdale Posted February 8, 2016 #9 Share Posted February 8, 2016 Booking rooms only show available rooms and usually only 6 or so rooms.
sunsetbeachgal Posted February 8, 2016 #10 Share Posted February 8, 2016 We are just off the Coral and did a guarantee and were assigned C421, which is mid ship on the "bump out". We thought it was an excellent location and we enjoyed being close to the stairs/elevators as it is so convenient.

I am attaching two pictures of the view from the balcony. There is a lack of privacy because the cabins that are recessed can look into your balcony (you can see from the picture) but that did not bother us. It is a covered balcony. A couple of things to consider, because of the curvature of the glass on the corner, the balcony is pretty small. Also, if you decide to get a corner hump make sure it's on the back of the balcony. The corner hump balconies on the front of the hump have high winds because there are no cabins to shield them. lah3185 Posted February 11, 2016 #12 Share Posted February 11, 2016 I had a bump out balcony on the Coral B309. I loved it because I could see the water behind and aside. I wouldn't trade it. As a matter of fact, I have B310 scheduled for July 2017. I love being on the land side and watching going into ports.
