Alanya, Turkey

Hello everyone. I just booked an NCL Eastern Mediterranean cruise for next year (May 2017) and Alanya, Turkey is one of the ports. There does not appear to be any recent information here on CC for this port. Looking for information on this port regarding recommended activities, "must see" places, etc. Appreciate any input. Thank you.

We really liked Alanya. You can walk from the ship straight onto the seafront and then walk all the way along the shore. It's a large resort so you could walk a long way. There are boats taking trips and market stalls along the seafront. There are also lots of shops and cafes further back from the seafront. Not sure if there is a beach further on but we just wandered and had a relaxing day.

been almost 3 years since we were there...walked into town. there is a beach promenade as the town is a beach resort..but while there is a lot of Germans it is more Muslim re dress etc. felt very safe and welcome.

We walked over to the citadel, then saw the ancient shipyard. Then, we made the long trek up the hill to the old castle ruins and had lunch with a view of the port on on the way back down the hill. We finished with about an hour in the town.

We did an independent driving tour along the coast. We very much liked Alanya and most especially Antalya. Not certain what the situation is with refugees at the moment.

 

The Turkish coast is a beautiful area.
