mcrcruiser Posted February 13, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 13, 2016 For those who cruised recently on Millenium what is your opinion of the food quality ,presentation & taste in both the main dining room ,for lunch & dinner? We know it can be subjective ;but ,please compare the food to a good land side restaurant for comparison purposes ,3-4 star restaurants TIA
az_tchr Posted February 13, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 13, 2016 Not possible to compare with a 4 star restaurant as Celebrity is making some 10,000 meals a day. The MDR does a good to very good job of presentation and the food is all over the place from excellent to mediocre. They have changed to smaller portions and many do not like, but if you want a shrimp cocktail with 24 shrimp they will bring it to you. I do note the waste before was terrible. What I guess I would ask is can you get a good hotel room with twice a day room service, entertainment, and breakfast/lunch/dinner on shore for the cruising price? An appetizer at dinner is maybe $6-10 and a salad $6-10 more. Now add in an entree at a 2 star restaurant price of say $12-15 and a dessert and tea and coffee for another $12 and you get my point. Is the food gourmet - no. Should there be something of interest out of probably a dozen choices each night - certainly. It is comparable or maybe a touch better than the other mass market cruise lines. The buffet is where Celebrity does well. Forget the stuff you ladle onto your plate but instead the cooked to order pannini sandwiches, pasta with pretty good (not great) sauces, stir fry and sushi and sashimi is shines brightly. Christine Frances Posted February 13, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 13, 2016 We were a group of 8 onboard the Millie for the Japan/China cruise Oct/Nov and found the MDR (early seating) excellent. Best Prime Rib ever:D Ate there every night, no specialties or buffet for dinner plus the service was perfect.
