New Orleans Hotels near port

First time cruising out of New Orleans.

 

What areas are convenient to the port?

Google, Hilton New Orleans Riverside. It is the closest to the port,(walking distance) and is located at one end of the riverside mall. You can walk through the mall and down some stairs right into the port. 10-12 min tops and we are in our late 50's

Hotels in the "Warehouse District" are quite close to the cruise terminals. This is the area roughly bounded by St. Charles, Poydras, Convention Center Blvd. and the Pontchartrain Expressway.

 

A little ways from the cruise terminals, there are hotels all up and down Poydras St, and hotels in the central business district between Poydras and Canal streets. These have the advantage of being within walking distance of the Quarter if you're so inclined.

Turned out there is a music festival that weekend and most hotels booked up so we booked out by airport.
