cruise catcher Posted March 16, 2016 #301 Share Posted March 16, 2016 Is there a cost for on-board texting through Royal IQ even if you have a "Cruise Ship Package" through your normal carrier like Verizon, AT&T. I've seen mixed information from other folks says both yes ($14.99 per device) to free - even without any WIFI package. Also, any sign of the dreaded Norovirus on your cruise?? Thanks in advance!! MattInFLL Posted March 16, 2016 #302 Share Posted March 16, 2016 Currently only ATT offers a cruise ship package on Royal ships. (At least as of my last sailing ). But it does not apply to ship wifi. So on cellular at sea you can send texts with the ATT package to anyone you like. On ship or off. Sending a text through Royal iq requires you to have their communication package and only works on the ships network. It's supposed to be 7.95 per device. robtulipe Posted March 16, 2016 #304 Share Posted March 16, 2016 (edited) R they offering wine packages on your cruise? Thanks....Sharon;) We've haven't seen any wine bottles packages like those 3,5,7, etc. that use to be offered on RCI. The alcohol included drink packages include wine by the glass but I suspect you knew that already. Edited March 16, 2016 by robtulipe
robtulipe Posted March 16, 2016 #305 Share Posted March 16, 2016 (edited) As soon as you board, head over to customer services where they have laptops. You can book your reservations there. Or, you can go to any restaurant that is staffed, and someone might be able to help you book. The earlier you do this, the better chance you have to get suitable times. Just to clarify the above, if you're thinking of the self serve units these are iPads mounted on stands at GS and across from that location in the Shore Excursions area, outside the restaurants on deck 3 and 4, in the Diamond and Concierge lounges and else where on the ship. Also both on this cruise and the one we did in January since the system isn't cancelling our old reservation when it we've change it, IMO, it's simply better to show up at the restaurant you want to dine in at the time you want, preferably at 6pm or before, as they cancel or release an existing booking 15 minutes after the scheduled time if one doesn't show up for it. robtulipe Posted March 16, 2016 #306 Share Posted March 16, 2016 We are going to be on the Anthem , May 14 to Bermuda. First time on RCC. Have usually taken Princess. Do you have to wear formal attire at the Grand? I like the menu, we dress nicely on a cruise, but not formal. I do have reservations for the Grand. Is it only for formal attire. Thanks Judy We've seen a few men wear the Grande provided jacket in when being escorted to their table and just taken them off when seated. I've even done so with my own jacket when I've gotten too hot on other ships with regular formal nights. ;)
robtulipe Posted March 16, 2016 #307 Share Posted March 16, 2016 Does the Windjammer have a sushi area in the evenings? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I've haven't seen any but we've only eaten there once in the evening this cruise and once last. I will check specifically for that over the next few days and report back here if I do find that available.

robtulipe Posted March 16, 2016 #309 Share Posted March 16, 2016 Thanks for all the info Bob. Any word on who will be replacing Captain Henrik beginning with the March 19th sailing? We spoke with Capt. Henrik, who has his wife onboard, last night in the D Lounge and I asked that. He will be on the next cruise but was unsure if he would stay on beyond that one. No one we've spoken to has really provided any details on what is happening re Capt. Claus.

robtulipe Posted March 16, 2016 #312 Share Posted March 16, 2016 (edited) We are sailing on Anthem on 03/27/16 - not long to go now. How many power sockets are there in the cabins? Are there also usb sockets to power iPad etc? Thanks for you help. :) Two switches on right are for light around mirror at desk and at balcony door. We always bring NA to European plug adapters as sockets in public areas, like Diamond and Concierge Lounges, are European. All our chargers are multi-voltage up to 240V. Rare villauk Posted March 16, 2016 #321 Share Posted March 16, 2016 I checked out Family Balconies 6274 and 6276 unit as these are just down from our cabin and have the same cabin attendant as ours. He was cleaning these as I walked by so he let me look in from the doorway. There is nothing different about these two connecting cabins. All balcony cabins have balcony panels that can be opened according to him The attendant seems surprised when I had mentioned earlier that these were designated as a Family Unit by the orange box on the deckplan. It is likely this means both can be booked under one reservation like the Family JS unit. Today I will check out if cabins 3248 and 3250 are connecting. Thank you for checking the orange outlined cabins - much appreciated :).

Is it $7.95 a day, or the duration of the trip? Thanks in advance. It's $7.95 for the trip from what everyone has said (I did not order it because I had VOOM, and didn't need it). One device on VOOM is $15/day, and with that you can text anyone with wi-fi texting. For instance, Apple phones communicate through iMessage which is wifi. Androids have a similar thing. And everyone can use whatsapp for wifi texting. Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app

[emoji3] Is the Royal IQ communication app $7.95/device or $14.95/ device? I've seen it reported both ways. Perhaps it's less if you also purchase an Internet package, and more without Internet?
