medicalma'am Posted March 2, 2016 Author #127 Share Posted March 2, 2016 (edited) The area around these is private feeling. There is a little beach area right there. [/img] The rental [/img] Edited March 2, 2016 by medicalma'am
medicalma'am Posted March 2, 2016 Author #128 Share Posted March 2, 2016 (edited) This looked like a floating party barge. [/img] From the platform looking over at the other island. Seems no one is there. [/img] Down the stains. This is where they used to bring you from the mainland. medicalma'am Posted March 2, 2016 Author #129 Share Posted March 2, 2016 Gift shop [/img] There are swings around it. When we saw it being built there were round cement stools that had sandbags on top of them. I guess they didn't work somehow. I like the swings better. They decided to wander off and explore. I stayed at the table and got out my book to read. It was still dripping and misting off and on. I moved the chair closer to the table to keep dry but the ground there was slanted toward the table and it was uncomfortable. I moved to the other side of the table. No go, still uncomfortable. Well, are they coming back with drinks or not. I texted them. No answer. Finally after about 30 minutes I heard a bell ringing at the bar where they were. I wondered what that meant. Hmmmm Where are those girls??? Finally, Samantha came over to the table and told me to come to where they were. Well, I might as well. The weather was not letting up and they were in a covered floating large bar. I headed over and they introduced me to their new best friends......the bartenders. Rare mitsugirly Posted March 2, 2016 #130 Share Posted March 2, 2016 Mitsugirly! - Are you recovered? My daughter got the flu the day after we got off the ship. Samantha and I had our flu shots and stayed well. H2O is who we had before??? Then we DID have the same tour operator! They took us RIGHT to the reef. It was waist deep water and calmer than when we were there with y'all. They called the tour Shark Ray City as opposed to Shark Ray Alley so I thought it was a different operator. LFK I thought was 'built out' last time we were there too. But they have done more. I kind of hope they are done. Still not completely over it. But it's getting better. Yes, H20 is who we had before. I wonder why they changed the name of the tour. This is the first I have heard of it called that. Nice to hear you had calmer water than we did. It kinda worried me when we were there with Sakari because she likes to do her own thing and the waves were pulling her out. Thank goodness for the rope they put out to help us back in because the tour guide we had was no where to be found...well, actually she was, she was back on the boat! :( I would have loved to swim around the reef area, especially if it was low tide. LFK is definitely all built up now. I can't imagine them adding any more to it. I hope they are done as well. It's still the most beautiful place ever and very tastefully done. But, like you, I feel that more and more people are coming (since there's so many beaches and areas now, they can accommodate more people) but it's starting to feel a little more crowded than it use to and more commercialized to me. :(
Planmaam Posted March 2, 2016 #131 Share Posted March 2, 2016 I can't believe all the changes to LFK since we were there!! They've been busy. The other island across the little stretch of water wasn't occupied when we were there, either. Wonder if they ever have guests. Did you hear anything about it? It looks like they have done more since we saw it "across the way" when we were last there, but it's still nothing compared to LFK!

I imagine because it's still a Carnival excursion and there were 2 Carnival ships there that day (Dream and Valor). :)
medicalma'am Posted March 3, 2016 Author #134 Share Posted March 3, 2016 (edited) So the Ma'amettes introduce me to their new best friends. They had let the Ma'amettes make a concoction for shots. I did not taste this concoction but they did, several times, and so did several customers who came up to the bar. I asked for the drink tickets to make sure at this point that there were indeed some left (I had my doubts). There were! I ordered a beer. So I looked across the way to the "other island" and still no one was there. [/img] I decided it was time for some food. One of the nice bartenders even went and got us our food with our meal tickets. Edited March 3, 2016 by medicalma'am
medicalma'am Posted March 3, 2016 Author #135 Share Posted March 3, 2016 We just spent the rest of the day there at the bar. It was a fun atmosphere. The more drinks, the more fun it seemed they were having. I decided that the red concoction made you take more selfies. This was our view. Still nothing going on across the way. This is the life No idea. salt. selfies and salt.
medicalma'am Posted March 3, 2016 Author #136 Share Posted March 3, 2016 I walked over to the gift shop before we left. There is not much there that interested me but I did find a dress/coverup that I likes. The attendant got out more of them for me to choose from. I picked one and continued to look around. When I was ready to checkout, the price had DOUBLED! I declined and walked away. That's just wrong. Before we left they fed some fish. medicalma'am Posted March 3, 2016 Author #137 Share Posted March 3, 2016 We stopped by the lions cage on our way to the dock to leave. Thee were several people there. I have video of this taken from the other side of the cage looking from the lions side. The attendant had my camera in with the Ma'amettes. [/img] Soon we were on the barge on our way back to the mainland. Saying goodbye to Little French Key again. Soon we were back and ready for our ride back at the ship. medicalma'am Posted March 3, 2016 Author #138 Share Posted March 3, 2016 Glad you are enjoying it it wizdiz. I have been able to re-live the cruise in doing it, so it's fun for me. Kim, I hope they are 'done' with LFK. I had to notice the Frenchy's 44 site is 'built out' to the max also. I think that it seems almost compulsive. The original paradise feeling of the island is gone. The little extension of the island was so cool the first time I was there. :(
medicalma'am Posted March 4, 2016 Author #139 Share Posted March 4, 2016 We got back to the ship rather early. Last tender was at 3:00 pm. We left the island about 1:30. We shared the van with a few other people. I did not even look back to see who else was with us. I sat in front next to the driver and the Ma'amettes sat just behind me. They talked the whole way with the driver learning Spanish words and asking him "How do you say...?". They were feeling really good and having so much fun. Something must have been really funny. This had been lunch at LFK. I don't do rice but the rest was good. The beef was tough. [/img] I ran a hot bath and soaked in the tub while catching up on the news. I think the Ma'amettes then showered and got ready for our dinner in Le Bistro. This is my very favorite restaurant on the ship and I couldn't wait until 7 pm. The Ma'amettes went in search of that next drink and I may have mentioned that they should 'take it easy' as they were still feeling really good. I finished getting ready and then met them at 'Bar City' outside of Le Bistro.
medicalma'am Posted March 4, 2016 Author #140 Share Posted March 4, 2016 (edited) Oh Le Bistro. How I do love you. Thankfully the Ma'amettes were on their best behavior. That 'next drink' I ordered a bottle of wine. [/img] It was cooked to perfection [/img] Edited March 4, 2016 by medicalma'am

medicalma'am Posted March 4, 2016 Author #142 Share Posted March 4, 2016 (edited) We finished our dinner late and made it for the last few minutes of the comedian David Naster show in Stardust. I was not terribly impressed. We had the most beautiful moon tonight and all tried to capture the beauty of it. So another port day had come to a close. You can see how calm the seas were. We were gently rocked to sleep with dreams of another sea day ahead. Edited March 4, 2016 by medicalma'am
Planmaam Posted March 4, 2016 #143 Share Posted March 4, 2016 Just wondering why you were so glad to see a lot of treats when you got back to the ship. Long time between lunch and dinner? To soak up the liquor? ;):D

medicalma'am Posted March 5, 2016 Author #149 Share Posted March 5, 2016 We ate lunch in the buffet because we got to Cagney's too late I think. I got my Indian food fix and more of those awesome pretzel rolls.
