shadow8899 Posted March 8, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 8, 2016 I remember 10 years ago, we were in Juneau and we took a taxi to Mendenhall, as it was the best option. Is that still the case? Thanks!
Budget Queen Posted March 8, 2016 #2 Share Posted March 8, 2016 It can be for 4 or more people? But there is also a shuttle bus, $30pp or a rental car, there are 2 downtown vendors to choose from. I'd ball park the taxi rate at around $35+
thinfool Posted March 8, 2016 #3 Share Posted March 8, 2016 There is tourist shuttle bus now. Hard to beat in the $8-10 range (round trip) I am sure that taxis are still available.

MarieF4861 Posted March 9, 2016 #5 Share Posted March 9, 2016 Following this conversation... Was going to do the shuttle, but it appears almost as expensive as the taxi! How easy is it to get a taxi back from Mendenhall?

How easy is it to get a taxi back from Mendenhall? The shuttle include the park admission, the taxi's don't. You have to arrange your own taxi, either with a prearranged pickup or you calling about 1/2 hour prior to wanting your pick up. cruis'n sus'n Posted March 10, 2016 #7 Share Posted March 10, 2016 I just reserved a rental car from Avis for less than $60....For 4 of us to ride in the shuttle bus, it would have cost us $120...Hoping I made a good decision!!!

barbie5401 Posted March 10, 2016 #9 Share Posted March 10, 2016 Thinking of renting a car also! There will be 4 adults. What is the cost to visit? Also, does anyone - from where you park to the entrance is it far? Two of the 4 adults have problems walking far distances - should I bring my handicap decal? Depending on the time of day, the parking lot could be full and you would park 'a distance' away. I'd definitely bring the decal if you have any concerns. http://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/stelprd3835583.pdf The car will allow you to explore.
