Lovetoboogie Posted March 10, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 10, 2016 Just returned from two weeks in Caribbean onboard Azura - lovely holiday until I came down with a chest infection due wholly and entirely to the air conditioning on the ship. Every time I went into the dining room, the theatre or any of the bars, I could feel the aircon upsetting me. My only respite was to go outside and breathe the fresh air. I now have a 60 a day smokers cough thanks to P&O. Thankfully my doc has prescribed antibiotics specifically designed to treat aircon bacteria. Tom Baker Posted March 10, 2016 #2 Share Posted March 10, 2016 Common problem on all cruise ships and aircraft I'm afraid, can't blame P&O. That's why your Doc has specific antibiotics to treat airway infections. Also a problem in hot countries like Dubai and the USA due to large buildings recirculating air. jeanlyon Posted March 10, 2016 #3 Share Posted March 10, 2016 Yes doesn't mean there is bacteria in the actual aircon though. Just that airconditioned places carry bugs from other people. It's legionnaires that you catch from dirty aircon.
