evandbob Posted March 18, 2016 #2 Share Posted March 18, 2016 (edited) Anyone off the Conquest that was supposed to be testing the new smoke eaters in the Casino? Going in April and would like to use the Casino. Thanks I was on the Glory for B2B Journey cruises in Jan & Feb and the smoke eaters did a credible job in that casino. The 1st leg was a premier casino cruise so there was heavy traffic in that area. I'm hoping their use will be expanded to all ships. I'm sailing the Conquest in about 2 weeks and hope the air cleaners will be present! Edited March 18, 2016 by evandbob

RedBeard78 Posted March 18, 2016 #4 Share Posted March 18, 2016 I'm hoping their use will be expanded to all ships. I can't find the link, but I read that when Triumph does it's 2-3 week dry dock this year, it will be getting those devices.

LaCal Posted March 27, 2016 #6 Share Posted March 27, 2016 Just off the Conquest today and asked casino manager about the new smoke ventilation system and he said Nothing's been upgraded yet. I smoke and it didn't seem to smoky in the casino except late at night a few times when it was packed
cruiseonthebrain Posted March 27, 2016 #7 Share Posted March 27, 2016 The smoke eating machines are awesome. I am very sensitive to smoke and, while I can still smell smoke on my hair and clothes, I do not feel like I have bronchitis for a day after spending a few hours in the casino when they are using the smoke eaters. ExFed drvr Posted March 27, 2016 #8 Share Posted March 27, 2016 They had them on the Premier cruise back in Febuary on the Valor and they worked well..Dennis
cruzelover55 Posted March 28, 2016 #9 Share Posted March 28, 2016 I never have understood why Carnival hasn't just installed the "smoke eaters" on every ship. It can't be a mind boggling expense. Our local "5 star dive bar" has them. And they work really well.
Thorncroft Posted March 28, 2016 #10 Share Posted March 28, 2016 A good ionization system will make it smell just like fresh dry cleaning. The smoke will dissipate almost as fast as the vapor, when vaping.
Boozebabe Posted March 28, 2016 #11 Share Posted March 28, 2016 Did they have Let It Ride on Glory? I was on the Glory in Feb and YES they do have Let it Ride. Thats my game and I did quite well. I also thought the new smokeeaters helped some too. Of course nothing will eliminate smoke 100%. But I never did notice the smoke in the casino but my hair and clothes still smelled afterward. Our local "5 star dive bar" has them. And they work really well. Agreed. They were just a free-standing unit at the end of a couple of the aisles of slots. They are about 14-15 inches square and about 3 feet tall. It looks like they just plug in. How hard is that to do?
Working 2 cruise again Posted March 28, 2016 #13 Share Posted March 28, 2016 Does the Splendor have these? We never go to the casino because of the smoke. Of course in the long run I guess that saves us $$ Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

evandbob Posted April 19, 2016 #15 Share Posted April 19, 2016 The premier casino cruise of April 2 on the Conquest did not have smoke any eaters, while the Glory Journeys cruises Jan 23 to Feb 13 did. Perhaps if we all agreed that some sort of air cleaner is necessary in the enclosed indoor areas and posted or petitioned Carnival something would get done? Enough cruisers complaining brought the shrimp cocktail appetizer back, why can't we do the same for clean air?
annabell08 Posted April 19, 2016 #16 Share Posted April 19, 2016 On Triumph in early April, I watched several people testing the smoke ventilation system. They were blowing a cloud of smoke into the air. The "smoke eaters" just sucked the smoke up. I did notice that the casino did not smell like smoke as it did last year. loubetti Posted April 19, 2016 #17 Share Posted April 19, 2016 Smoke eaters should have been de rigueur on Carnival's fleet for the last 20+ years, and this comes from a smoker! I figure they held off spending the money until it became untenable for them to wait any longer.
bamboozel Posted April 19, 2016 #18 Share Posted April 19, 2016 (edited) I was on the Splendor in late January and they did not have them. The casino was full of smoke so I avoided it!!! It's to bad because I love the casino but the smoke was to much!!! Edited April 19, 2016 by bamboozel

Thorncroft Posted April 19, 2016 #20 Share Posted April 19, 2016 Injecting ionized air through the a/c system would kill all of the smoke smell.
