gullcruiser Posted April 8, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 8, 2016 Hello, I would like to know your thoughts on single travel on a 2 day cruise from Halong Bay. Would hate to miss this beautiful area, but believe the cruises are mostly made up of couples. I can get a single room so that is not a problem, just don't want to feel out of place. Thank and have a great day!
maryann ns Posted April 8, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 8, 2016 (edited) Go and enjoy yourself. When we went I don't remember any singles but there were families. People were all friendly and we had a great time. I highly recommend: Indochina Cruises as they go to a secluded area where only their few ships are allowed. We went on the Dragon's Pearl for two nights. Edited April 8, 2016 by maryann ns
someotherguy Posted April 10, 2016 #3 Share Posted April 10, 2016 I'd also recommend Indochina Junks and the Bai Tu Long part of Halong Bay (they are the only company licensed to go there). I went on the Red Dragon for one night as a solo and really enjoyed it. Wish I'd done two nights.
RJ2002 Posted April 25, 2016 #4 Share Posted April 25, 2016 I would not hesitate to go as a solo. The total number of passengers is small anyway, and we found there was a lot of camaraderie onboard. We went with Aphrodite cruises and were pleased.
Rare Host Bonjour Posted April 25, 2016 #5 Share Posted April 25, 2016 Go anyway - I traveled solo in Asia (and all around the world) and I took a small tour too....it was a mix of couples and there was another person solo too. Everyone was friendly and 20 years later, just this past weekend, a couple from New Zealand I met on my China tour visited me here in the US...for the second time - I have already visited them in New Zealand. Have a great time on your holiday :)

tuktuk Posted August 19, 2016 #8 Share Posted August 19, 2016 I always enjoy talking with solo travelers whenever we go places. They seem braver and more approachable than couples. Do what you love, life is short.

We went on the Dragon's Pearl for two nights. Ours was part of a larger tour/cruise with AMA Waterways; I think this portion chartered an Indochina boat. Plenty of singles in our group, everyone sat and chatted together - it was lovely!
