TeeRick Posted April 17, 2016 #26 Share Posted April 17, 2016 I'm on the Infinity now, heading to the Canal, and yes, using Xcelerate internet to reply to you. It's good in the common areas but a little spotty in the stateroom. But Way better than previous Internet experiences on Solstice and Reflection (2 -4 years ago...believe they now have Xcel as well). I haven't tried to run a Speedtest yet to see transfer rates but have watched some short YouTube videos with just a momentary buffering. I heard a friend on this cruise say she was able to FaceTime w a friend in the States a day or two ago and it worked fine for her but she was in a common area. I tried from my stateroom and it didn't work. Did the full 15 day unlimited package and w CC discount (25%) it cost me $10/day. Expensive compared to home but I feel a good deal for the speed and access. Thanks so much. We are doing the 15 day Miami to SD in about a week from now. Can't wait! I'm glad Infinity got the Xcelerate upgrade. We will likely get the 15 day package with Elite discount.
thecruise_guy Posted April 17, 2016 #27 Share Posted April 17, 2016 can anyone tell me about their experience on the Infinity what was the conditions of the rooms were there any problems with the airconditioning on the ship how were the shows and the quality of the food thanks The food was so delicious! We had a comfort food night and these options tasted exactly spot on! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7SdGabQZ5WXqOPaSxbEycg We had to compliment the chef on a job well done. These videos aren't mine, but I have made these recipes before it took me right back to that southern comfort feeling from my childhood. Definitely would recommend the Infinity! Rare Deeliteful Posted April 17, 2016 #28 Share Posted April 17, 2016 (edited) Cruised Infinity to Alaska last year and booked again for September this year. Celandine, there was poker and dealt by live dealer (tournaments and cash) - we had a very lively table every night. Enjoy your cruise. Rare photomikey Posted April 18, 2016 #30 Share Posted April 18, 2016 I have a few questions, I am sailing on this ship in July to Alaska, and wanted to know what the seating in the theatre was like? traditional theatre seats, bench seating etc.? Two seats together (what I'd call a loveseat) separated by a tiny glass table and an armrest. It looks like hundreds of loveseats all side by side. Also are there any poker games/tournaments in the casino? (preferably live with a dealer instead of video - and I accept that it's based on interest, but curious if it's offered at all) There were live dealers on my Panama Canal cruise a few weeks ago, but I don't know about tourneys. what is the furniture on the balcony like? (hoping to spend a fair amount of time out there watching Alaska go by) I believe it's two chaise lounges and a little table, but we were on an aft corner so we had a much larger balcony and more furniture. The aft loungers were in great shape and worked well, I had no trouble killing a day sitting in one in the Panama Canal, I'm sure they'll do great for Alaska! Dining room seating, mostly tables, booths Is there anytime dining or only the two seatings? Mostly tables, didn't see any booths. I felt the dining room had a good layout where most tables had a good view of the water. Some of the larger dining rooms it seems like many tables are buried so far from the windows (and at sunset no less), but not in this case. Two seatings plus anytime that starts at 5:15p. Thanks for the good information. We leave on May 11th. Is there a place on deck 10 by the Ocean View café where you can get special coffee`s like Café Al Bacio on Deck 5 ? ( Latte ect. ) No specialty coffees on deck 10.
tikibargirl Posted April 29, 2016 #31 Share Posted April 29, 2016 Hi we are taking the Infinity end of june to Alaska from Vancouver. I was wondering if there are things onboard for my 13 year old niece to do? I heard that the indoor pool is for adults only and is really more like a large hot tub? I am worried she will be bored on the days we are out to sea. Any info would be greatly appreciated and any packing advice I WOULD PAY FOR! LOL I know about layers but from what other passengers have written they are talking more like damp winter type weather so I think I should get capri's out of my head and focus on buying more jeans :)
Shadow1966 Posted May 16, 2016 #32 Share Posted May 16, 2016 It's very confusing sometimes, the negatives and positives. jelayne Posted May 17, 2016 #34 Share Posted May 17, 2016 Hey everyone, Loved reading the thoughts on the Infinity, as when I was searching a few weeks ago I couldn't find anything much. I have a few questions, I am sailing on this ship in July to Alaska, and wanted to know what the seating in the theatre was like? traditional theatre seats, bench seating etc.? the theatre has traditional theatre seat no benches. Also are there any poker games/tournaments in the casino? (preferably live with a dealer instead of video - and I accept that it's based on interest, but curious if it's offered at all) i don't go to the casino but the I do see poker tournaments frequently listed in the Celebrity Today what is the furniture on the balcony like? (hoping to spend a fair amount of time out there watching Alaska go by) Veranda cabins have 2 chairs and a small table Dining room seating, mostly tables, booths (I've seen some ships recently introduce booths which is weird to me unless you are in it as a family or friends only) Tables Is there anytime dining or only the two seatings? There is both traditional and anytime dining. Anytime is called Select Dining on Celebrity I apologise for asking, the TA being used at the moment is not my favourite, and I am in Egypt while all planning is taking place in Canada. I have searched these boards for this information specific to the infinity, but have not had a lot of success. I appreciate any and all help you can offer :) This is my first time on Celebrity and to Alaska, I'm stoked. Enjoy Alaska, it is beautiful! We will likely get the 15 day package with Elite discount. I had intended to add to my original post that I did end up doing a FaceTime video during our transit through the Panama Canal with a cruise friend in Scotland. He was blown away that I was live casting from deck 12 aft ( the new rooftop lounge) and never had a connection issue w Xcelerate inet! Rare hcat Posted May 21, 2016 #37 Share Posted May 21, 2016 I was on the Infinity Feb 28, 2016, Buenos Aires to Valparaiso. We cruised in Aqua cabin on deck 9. We really enjoyed dining in BLU. Outstanding service and food. The buffet was pretty good, we ate there for breakfast, occasional lunch and one dinner. The ship is clean, a bit dated, however we like the smaller, older ships. Our cabin had a few stains on the carpet, and the shower leaked like crazy. We had enough towels to sop up the water after our showers. The shows in the main theater were great fun. Some better than others, most very enjoyable. The shows in the lounges were good. We really enjoyed our cruise and would cruise on the Infinity again. Pls post cabin number...thanks! Rare hcat Posted May 21, 2016 #38 Share Posted May 21, 2016 I disembarked Infinity two weeks ago at the conclusion of a two week cruise from Valparaiso to Miami. I stayed in an aqua class cabin.Food was excellent, on par with any Celebrity cruise I've been on in the last several years. Blu had outstanding service, great food if not a sometimes less than desirable menu. Overview Cafe was always top notch. Also dined at Tuscan Grill and Quisine....both are pleasers. The ship is in generally good condition through all public areas but not in cabins. My cabin was worn, dated, the balcony door next to impossible to open, squeaking noises all night and the air conditioner leaked water all over the floor. The carpet had to be suctioned and fans placed in the cabin for drying purposes for part of two days. The cruise was over all enjoyable but these cabins on Infinity need work, mine did not meet Celebrity standards. I did notify staff of problems, some were addressed, some were not. I would cruise on Infinity again....for me that says a lot. Please post cabin number...thanks!
Rare gogo65 Posted May 22, 2016 #39 Share Posted May 22, 2016 We will be in 9076..(2016) and 9095 (unless we cancel after the 2016 cruise..) hope neither has a leaky shower. We were just in 9078 and 9080, no issues with leaky showers at all. Assuming 9076 would be the same.

Thanks so much.....the ABC Island itin in Oct looks great and we are looking forward to it! Although cabins are still available, prices are much higher than when we booked... Hopefully, we'll also enjoy the 2017 Pacific Coastal...same ship.

tikibargirl Posted May 27, 2016 #43 Share Posted May 27, 2016 Also, is there a refrigerator in each room? How can I find out if we are able to buy beer at the ports and take it back on the ship. Is there a page with the do's and don'ts?
tikibargirl Posted June 1, 2016 #44 Share Posted June 1, 2016 Can anyone tell me what is the latest time you can disembark off the ship on the day the cruise ends? We are in no rush at all to leave the ship that morning. We have no flight to catch until 11pm that night. we do have a private tour company picking us up to take us (8 people) and our luggage on a tour around Vancouver for 9 hours. I was just wondering what time you HAVE to leave the ship that morning and how they dismiss you.

I was just wondering what time you HAVE to leave the ship that morning and how they dismiss you. We were on the Pacific Coastal cruise and we requested 9:30, there may have been one luggage tag number for 9:45AM. You swipe your sea pass card as you disembark so that is how they know whether or not you have left the ship. I have never been on past the latest time, they may page you if you have not left. Remember, the next set of cruisers are anxiously waiting to embark, and they cannot do that until the past cruise has been cleared. Also note that anything is possible, and there may be delays in disembarking and you may be off later than your stated time. Also, if things are going well, they may call your number before your stated time.
tikibargirl Posted June 1, 2016 #46 Share Posted June 1, 2016 Thanks Trvlr21. I just don't want to rush off by 9am I was figuring on telling the tour company to meet us at 10 am even if we get off a littler earlier we can just wait with our bags for them to arrive. 9:30/9:45 would be perfect. I was just curious as to how they handle this portion of the cruise. On past cruises it's like a mad dash to get off so you're standing in a crowded lobby with a million other people pushing through. It just annoys me and I don't want to end my vacation with hustle and bustle especially since we have no flight to meet.
hopeless holiday booker Posted June 1, 2016 #47 Share Posted June 1, 2016 Just one point - breakfast usually finishes at 8 and they get you out of your room by 8.30 so you will be hanging around in one of the designated areas.
tikibargirl Posted June 1, 2016 #48 Share Posted June 1, 2016 Hopeless...once you're in your designated area how long is that process to get off the ship and get your bags? Do you think a 10 am pick up from our tour company will be ok?
TGR4ME Posted November 1, 2016 #49 Share Posted November 1, 2016 Dear SFO-F/A - We are booked on Infinity in March '17 for same cruise. We are in Cabin 9048 and I am concerned about noise and roof overhang. Can you comment or advise. We still have an option to change to Deck 11 now. Thank you. phoenix_dream Posted November 1, 2016 #50 Share Posted November 1, 2016 We were on the Infinity in September. Overall, had a great time. The ship has some wear and tear but I think is overall in good shape. We had AQ and ate in Blu. The food was very good. The wait staff was horrible at first - so much so that many of us actually went and complained about it (a first for us!) and it improved quite a bit after that. Entertainment was, IMHO, below par for Celebrity. I had been on Millie in May and their entertainment was head and shoulders above that on Infinity. This was our main disappointment, albeit not so bad it spoiled our cruise. But as I said, overall we had a great time and I would not hesitate to book her again (in fact, we have a cruise on her booked in April). I have honestly never had a bad Celebrity cruise - and I have been on more than 30.
