jenseib Posted April 21, 2016 Author #26 Share Posted April 21, 2016 Saturday, Feb. 8, 2016 Our first full day on the ship! Cass woke up at the crack of dawn as she wanted to take pictures of the sun coming up. I wasn’t too far behind her actually. I heard her get up and creep out and after I got brave enough to tackle the ladder down from the top bunk without having to jump and wake up Brook, I followed and got dressed quickly and went out as well. It wasn’t going to be one of those cruises where you got great sun rise shots as it was cloudy every morning. The Crew was busy cleaning up the ship. bah3 by Jenseib, on Flickr bah4 by Jenseib, on Flickr bah5 by Jenseib, on Flickr nas89 by Jenseib, on Flickr At least it felt a bit warmer today. bah1 by Jenseib, on Flickr The sun was trying to make its appearance. jenseib Posted April 21, 2016 Author #27 Share Posted April 21, 2016 nas91 by Jenseib, on Flickr The new Edge, which I never got to see inside. Typically on the first day is when I would go and look at the new stuff, but I did not this time. This and the new Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique were 2 things I wanted to look at and I failed and never did. nas92 by Jenseib, on Flickr I always am trying for the perfect lighthouse shot. nas93 by Jenseib, on Flickr I went to find some food and who should I find there a well…..Cass! So we ate together and chatted. nas1 by Jenseib, on Flickr 1bah1 by Jenseib, on Flickr And then back down to the room to get ready for the day. jenseib Posted April 22, 2016 Author #38 Share Posted April 22, 2016 nas131 by Jenseib, on Flickr nas132 by Jenseib, on Flickr Another shot of Atlantis. nas133 by Jenseib, on Flickr And an artsy shop through the hole in the hot tub. nas134 by Jenseib, on Flickr I guess I headed back to the room at some point in time. Probably to make sure I had what I needed for the day. I am thinking Cass was with me when I took this picture, but I could be wrong. But it’s a really cute fish extender and I felt the need to take a picture. nas135 by Jenseib, on Flickr And then it was time to meet the girls. Today a couple of us were going to head over to Atlantis and tour the Aquariums and then we arranged to have some room tours as well. We started looking into this months ago. Cass wanted to do the water park there, but I am just not much of a water park person. I do more watching and sitting in the hot tube. The cost to go over and use this is pretty steep and I knew I wouldn’t get my money’s worth. In the end, Brook and Cass decided they would do this, but I still wanted to go over to see the aquariums. Cass had contacted some people to see if we could get any special rates and then forwarded the email onto me. There was a discount for the aquarium tour so I had it in my mind I would do this and noted on my calendar when to contact them. About 2 months before the trip, Ellen messaged me and asked if I was going to go over to Atlantis and I told her that was my plan, and she said she wanted to come with me. We then posted it on our private group and invited others. Patty jumped on aboard as well. A few weeks before the trip I was to email Atlantis to set this up and I gave out a last call, and Lisa, one of our new co-workers decided to join as well. Perfect! We had 4 and it should be fun. When I emailed to set this up, I asked if there was a way to get a room tour and they told me that as long as we had 4 or more we could! Awesome! So I set that up for noon that day. On Feb. 4, Cass was feeling pretty poorly after having several days at Disney already and then I guess I ran her ragged at Universal and she ended up taking some rest days. She decided that she wasn’t going to be able to do the water slides at Atlantis. She was afraid for the money she would be spending on it that she might only last an hour and then have to call it quits. She quickly contacted Brook and let her know and told Brook she was sure she could join the rest of us if she wanted to. And yes, there would be no issues having her join. The aquarium was more an on our own type thing and the tour had to have at least 4, so I am sure a 5th person would be no issue at all. We wanted to arrive at Atlantis around 10:30, so we planned to meet up near Fathoms at 10. I came down the back stairs near the After Hour club area and didn’t see anyone yet. I went to the bathroom there and just kind of walked back and forth and then wondered if I had the wrong spot. I decided to look further so I went around the corner and headed towards the atrium and I heard voices…They were all there. Gosh I hope they hadn’t been waiting too long on me. jenseib Posted April 22, 2016 Author #39 Share Posted April 22, 2016 We then headed down to get off the ship. Of course the first thing you do is take pictures of the ship. nas136 by Jenseib, on Flickr nas137 by Jenseib, on Flickr And we walked towards town and chatted away. I didn’t know it at the time, but we were being spied on. Cass was watching us get off and took some pictures. nas149 by Jenseib, on Flickr nas150 by Jenseib, on Flickr I think she said she tried yelling at us, but we didn’t hear her. A quickie shot of the Bahama sign. nas138 by Jenseib, on Flickr And then of course a few shots of the ship as we walked away. nas139 by Jenseib, on Flickr
jenseib Posted April 22, 2016 Author #40 Share Posted April 22, 2016 nas140 by Jenseib, on Flickr As we walked up the people started right in with do you want to take a tour, do you need a taxi. I am so used to ignoring them, and I think the others were too that we just kept walking…and then I was like…wait yes we need a taxi. And Ellen was like…oh yes, we need a taxi. Haha. So we went with a guy to a taxi van and loaded in. There was another family in there as well and we chatted with them along the way. They were super nice. As we went over the bridge to Atlantis I got a quick shot of the Magic. atlantis1 by Jenseib, on Flickr I think the cost of the taxi was $4 per person. I had a $20 so I said I would pay if some others threw in a few bucks for a tip and then on the way back someone else could pay. That worked! We got out of the van and headed inside to find out where to buy tickets. Up next…..Touring the Dig!

jenseib Posted April 25, 2016 Author #46 Share Posted April 25, 2016 We entered Atlantis in the Coral Towers, which is where we were told to go. atlantis2 by Jenseib, on Flickr atlantis3 by Jenseib, on Flickr atlantis4 by Jenseib, on Flickr atlantis5 by Jenseib, on Flickr I asked someone where to buy the tickets and she directed me outside. atlantis6 by Jenseib, on Flickr We had to show our industry ID and a business card. Each person could get 4 people in at the reduced price, so only 2 of us had to show our credentials. They have scheduled guided tours and the next one wasn’t till something like 1 PM if I remember right. However, we could go on a self-guided tour which was fine with us. Yes it would be nice to have someone narrate but going on our own we could go as slow or as fast as we wanted to. We were given instructions on where to go and headed inside to find our way. We went through a VERY upscale shopping area. atlantis7 by Jenseib, on Flickr
