sfaaa Posted April 20, 2016 #26 Share Posted April 20, 2016 (edited) Ya they did! Dawn sailed last summer without discounting with empty cabins available. That 's when FDR lost me , as he said he did not want discount cruisers. . They are out there. Within the last 12 months, I've seen some good last minute deals to Mexico, Panama, Coastal and now Alaska. Edited April 20, 2016 by sfaaa
Rare sparks1093 Posted April 20, 2016 #27 Share Posted April 20, 2016 They are out there. Within the last 12 months, I've seen some good last minute deals to Mexico, Panama, Coastal and now Alaska. Yes, they have been there for certain sailings but Del Rio wants to move away from that pricing model and rely on perks to fill the ships without cutting the price and as stated NCL is more willing to sail with some cabins empty. luvtheships Posted April 20, 2016 #28 Share Posted April 20, 2016 Personally I would love to see Ncl sail with loads of empty cabins on seversl ships and on several itins!!! I love when supply exceeds demand!!! [emoji41]
Froggitt Posted April 20, 2016 #29 Share Posted April 20, 2016 4) NCL used to heavily depend on people who booked last minute to fill their ships. However, at the current prices, I think that there are less people booking last minute cruises. I considered a last minute cruise (departs Sunday) as Im not busy next week, but since the 30-day-no-free-at-sea rule came in, they can sail empty. Budget Queen Posted April 20, 2016 #30 Share Posted April 20, 2016 They have the (2) FCC deal going again? I didn't see anything about that. Yes, as long as you sail before 8-31. I've used 6 of them so far. :)
littlelulu01 Posted April 20, 2016 #31 Share Posted April 20, 2016 Europe cruises also coming down in price for prime summer dates. Still not discounting the fall yet but today I got an email from a TA advertising the top 20 of the week travel deals. NCL balconies on several dates this summer $699 with the drink package, $200 shore ex credit and $100 obc. Balconies had been more than double this price. Insides on the Jade sailings coming up were discounted to $499 seven nt. Some with perk choice and some without. Those sailings are still advertised at more than double for September sailings though. Certainly not conducive to booking in advance, especially with reports recently of those booked unable to upgrade with these price drops. Suite prices still quite high but limited availability on those.
patsfantb12goat Posted April 20, 2016 #32 Share Posted April 20, 2016 We waited to 3 weeks out to book NCL Escape and we got an ocean view and balcony for 4 for less than 3000. No perks but we didn't care. Not sure I will ever book a cruise on a mega ship more than 30 days out ever again.
Warm-Water Diver Posted April 20, 2016 #33 Share Posted April 20, 2016 Yes, as long as you sail before 8-31. I've used 6 of them so far. :) what is the (2) FCC deal?
Budget Queen Posted April 21, 2016 #34 Share Posted April 21, 2016 what is the (2) FCC deal? You can redeem 2 per cabin, instead of the usual 1. So your savings is another $100/$125 depending when you purchased them. So I got $200 additional off the first 2 cruises I booked, then $250 off this last one. I have 4 more certificates, and will be buying 2 more on my cruise this Saturday. Best deal- is I use obc for my FCC, since NCL doesn't allow use for service charges. Great use of my money. :)

Oppalopa Posted April 21, 2016 #36 Share Posted April 21, 2016 PLUS- the added discount of being able to use 2 deposits. :) :) I picked up, less than 2 weeks ago, the Spirit, sailing this Saturday. Final cost, for a single (no supplement), $351. :) 14 days. That was the best one I heard of. Congratulations. :)
CP3o Posted April 21, 2016 #37 Share Posted April 21, 2016 Inter line rates are only for who again? I can't remember but assume it's not the general population. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
cmh9092 Posted April 21, 2016 #38 Share Posted April 21, 2016 I wish the Dawn Bermuda prices would go down. I've kept an eagle eye out for dropped prices, but they've actually gone UP significantly in the past month or so.
chong67 Posted April 21, 2016 #39 Share Posted April 21, 2016 We plan to go on a cruise next month because it is so cheap for a 8 month old new ship! In Dec it cost 2x more. Also dont forget the mosquitoes this year might discourage some from going.
Rare mking8288 Posted April 21, 2016 #40 Share Posted April 21, 2016 (edited) I wish the Dawn Bermuda prices would go down. ... Hmmm, if you are coming from PA, isn't NY closer - take another look at Breakaway, depending on your preferred sail dates ... There are some pretty good "no frills" deals, leaving this Sunday and over the next several sailings - OV & insides, even the balconies - GTY - aren't too bad, as long as you aren't fuzzy about specific deck & locations. :D ** Interline rates ** are for those in the travel industry, highly discounted - not for the "general" public. One of our two nephews working for airlines scored nicely last Fall with a last minute special, I know :p Budget Queen scored (agreed 101%) very nicely on the deals - congrats - as good as, perhaps better than the casino rates, with all those discounts & promo's stacked. Hawaii - POA is on sale too from NCL's email this morning ... choose/up to 4 free offers and F&F Sail Free. Well, look at the actual pricing - not really that much lower & still a lot more compared to what we paid. Going to be an interesting quarterly conference call for investors on NCLH  Edited April 21, 2016 by mking8288

I've kept an eagle eye out for dropped prices, but they've actually gone UP significantly in the past month or so. I booked the DAWN October 21-28 in a SJ, (booked June 2015) the prices has gone up $400pp. And most of the suites are sold out for that week!! I don't think the Dawn prices will be going down this Boston to Bermuda season, they are losing a month due to the refurbish and the cabins seem to be selling!! I am on the May 8 DAWN cruise out of NOLA, was able to upsell from a balcony to SD (10 day cruise) for about the same that I paid for the SJ in October. (7 day cruise)

I just did a mock booking for my May 8 sailing on the Getaway and they are indeed offering 2 free choices with a new booking. The prices are pretty good for a GTY category- I'm pretty annoyed at how much I spent when I booked last year!! luv2cruisecats Posted April 21, 2016 #47 Share Posted April 21, 2016 We have 2 good friends that love X, RCL, and Princess. They have not sailed on NCL for 6 years and want to try the new megaships. We are on Escape 4/30 with 2 free perks and they tried to book to join us but were told no perks due to the "30 day" rule! So they booked a Princess cruise instead...where is the logic here? We know the South FL ports have a capacity excess due to all the big ships coupled with the Zika scare. One would think that FDR might know this too do you agree? 8 days out I doubt that they will fill these unsold cabins but more importantly they are denying 2 totally addicted cruisers from "rediscovering" NCL 2016. Should have said that they are just making it more difficult to book and feel they are getting the same deal that we got. I also forgot to mention these guys love a good deal just as much as the rest of us.

Yeah...I can't see how they were denied either. There were given a choice: cruise on the Escape with their good friends under the current terms, OR book a Princess cruise. They choose what they wanted.
