pacouple309 Posted May 8, 2016 #1 Share Posted May 8, 2016 My wife and I are considering a cruise on the Anthem of Seas later this year. She loves to play Texas Hold’Em poker when we are on a cruise. I have been trying to research if the Anthem has a table in the casino with a live dealer, but I have not been able to find anything online. Has anyone been on the Anthem and played Texas Hold’Em poker in the casino? Do you know if they have a live dealer or do they use a poker pro machine? Any information would be greatly appreciated! carnivalcruizer2605 Posted May 8, 2016 #2 Share Posted May 8, 2016 They have 1 table, usually opens around 9:30 pm. Live dealer, 2/5 no limit. Filled up quick on our cruise. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

grod19 Posted May 11, 2016 #6 Share Posted May 11, 2016 From what I have seen on other Royal ships the rake is insanely high. I think it was 10% max $15 on Quantum.
pacouple309 Posted May 12, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted May 12, 2016 Thank you for the information about the rake. My wife seemed to remember that it was very high. She still enjoyed the poker, even thought it was difficult to make money. It seemed like the House ended up with most of the chips by the end of the night. Unfortunately, they can do this, because they're the only game in town. Thank you for taking the time to give us some details.
krazy_dave Posted June 23, 2016 #8 Share Posted June 23, 2016 Exactly what I needed to know, thanks. And yeah, the rake is pretty steep, and you have to watch that the dealers don't round up and take extra rake, or rake an uncalled bet. Called a few out on that my last cruise. DevonianCruiser Posted June 23, 2016 #9 Share Posted June 23, 2016 The rake is pretty bad on all the ships I've played on regardless of the cruise line to be honest. They have a captive audience and capitalise on that. Far worse is if you enter the poker tournaments (usually when there's a few sea days) the rake is normally 25% at least and once you've had all your rebuys in the first hour and then the add on they up the blinds so it's all over in half an hour as everyone quickly has to start going on all. On the plus side I won a cruise on Oasis of the Seas for a week 3 years ago and a few months back won another with NCL. I look at it that I'm on holiday and it's a bit of fun :)
