stefs111 Posted May 12, 2016 #1 Share Posted May 12, 2016 Hi, I am interested in gaming on St. Thomas. Can you tell me if Crown Bay Mall with the gaming center is still there? If so, how far from the port is it? We are on Carnival. How much would a taxi cost to get there? Thank you for any responses.
Ms411 Posted May 12, 2016 #2 Share Posted May 12, 2016 Islander doesn't post on the forums any more. There are gaming centers alll over the island so no need to go to Crown Bay. There is one near Carnival dock called The Rock.
stefs111 Posted May 13, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted May 13, 2016 Thank you Ms411. Do I need to take a taxi there? Have you been there before? Is it worth going to?
Ms411 Posted May 13, 2016 #4 Share Posted May 13, 2016 Yes, you would have to take a taxi. You do realize it's a place with those gambling machines? I've never been because I don't play the machines. They're all pretty much the same.
stefs111 Posted May 16, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted May 16, 2016 I have never been to a gaming place. What do you mean "those gambling machines"?
Ms411 Posted May 16, 2016 #6 Share Posted May 16, 2016 They're like automatic slot machines.
monicajay Posted May 16, 2016 #7 Share Posted May 16, 2016 With so many cool things to do in St. Thomas, from mountain tops to beaches, I just can't imagine going into a mall to play on slot machines. Can't you do that at home?
stefs111 Posted May 16, 2016 Author #8 Share Posted May 16, 2016 No, we don't have casino's in Orlando. I have been to St. Thomas at least 10 times and have seen it all. Many tours of the Island with guests we have travelled with. I will still do the shops, but my husband and I are handicapped and we cant do the beaches any more. Ms411 Posted May 17, 2016 #9 Share Posted May 17, 2016 The Rock, which is right at Havensight dock, is very similar to Crown Bay Gaming Center, I think. I'll confirm later this week and report back. I think the pool at Senor Frog's at Havensight might be a good option for you. If you eat or drink there you can use the pool. It's never crowded and you can most likely see your ship from the pool. You have to like loud, party music, though because that's what they do ay Senor Frogs.
stefs111 Posted May 17, 2016 Author #10 Share Posted May 17, 2016 Thank you Ms411, Isn't Havensight where Carnival docks? Why would I need a taxi to go to the Rock? Senor Frogs is a great suggestion, thank you.
Ms411 Posted May 17, 2016 #11 Share Posted May 17, 2016 You don't need a taxi to get to The Rock at Havensight. You might also want to go to the St John's Bay Rum factory tour also in Havensight. It's free, and it's interesting. Doesn't take much time, though.
stefs111 Posted May 18, 2016 Author #12 Share Posted May 18, 2016 The rum factory sounds like something fun to do. Yes, we will look for it for sure. Thank you for all your help, it is much appreciated. Stef
Ms411 Posted May 18, 2016 #13 Share Posted May 18, 2016 Bay Rum is not a drinking rum. It's a cologne or aftershave type product.
O2B@Cagain Posted May 21, 2016 #14 Share Posted May 21, 2016 stefs111: The "gaming centers" on St Thomas are *not* casinos. They are video lottery machine outlets. VLTs have the poorest payouts of any type gaming. They are basically a way to separate people from their hard earned money. You will have a casino on your ship and you will be sorely disappointed if you go to one of the gaming centers on St Thomas. They are all over the place unfortunately. stefs111 Posted May 22, 2016 Author #15 Share Posted May 22, 2016 I did not know this. Good to know, I will stay clear of them and just wheel around Havensight for a few hours. Thank you so much for the heads up.
