Rare BermudaBound2014 Posted May 15, 2016 #2 Share Posted May 15, 2016 I love osj for diy. Are you ok with just walking around? There is also a free trolley. Check out the fort, find backstreets, enjoy the old architecture. The beaches in condondo aren't spectacular imho- so can be skipped. Bacardi factory can also be done for free. Great town to just wander aimlessly.
Rare Essiesmom Posted May 15, 2016 #3 Share Posted May 15, 2016 Get off the ship and head out to the gate. Turn left and walk to the next pier, to the sign 14 for the free green trolley. There will be lots of folks trying to sell you tours and calling the trolley the 'hot bus'. It isn't. We rode around past the monuments and park, San Cristobal fort, and got off at El Morro. Easy uphill walk to the fort, $5 entry fee unless you have a National Parks senior card. Then it's free. The park service has a trolley that goes between the forts, but I don't know how it works. If you have to book a tour or anything. We walked back down the path and got on the trolley again, and got off in the shopping area. Did some shopping, dined in a local restaurant, shopped some more, had a drink in the plaza, then walked back to the ship. Do a little research on the Caribbean board under Ports of Call. RC Dancers Posted May 15, 2016 #4 Share Posted May 15, 2016 We waited for the free trolley going out. We stopped at El Castillo fort and laughed. It was only a couple of blocks from the ship. We took the trolley from there to El Morro fort and then back to El Castillo. We walked through Old Town back to the ship from there. Total cost was $5/person for the entry to the two forts. sfaaa Posted May 16, 2016 #8 Share Posted May 16, 2016 Some shops are willing to entertain offers. They are hungry for business and want your tourist dollar.

bnorris10 Posted May 18, 2016 #11 Share Posted May 18, 2016 Keep in mind if you do the free trolley you get what you pay for The first time we went we decided to hit up the free trolley - waited like 1/2 hour for it to show up and when it did it was so packed no one could get on it - waited again and still long wait we finally gave up walked back to the port and paid the guy to give us a tour - was like $20 per person although i think i heard a few guys offering 10 per person (u could barter them down on price) and took us to all the hot spots was about 2 hours
verodoodle Posted May 18, 2016 #12 Share Posted May 18, 2016 We did a food tour that was really good. You would have to check the times to see if it would work.
