Carnival Vista Photo Review May 14-24, 2016

We just arrived back home late last night from Athens Greece. We were on the 2nd Carnival Vista cruise from Barcelona Spain May 14-24, 2016.

 

I did promise a photo review when I returned and even though I knew a few would already be underway (I have not yet had time to get through them myself) I hope no one minds if I get going. I still have a couple of days off before I return to work to start saving for our next cruise.

 

While I'm writing this my photo's are being uploaded to my flickr account, so lets get this started with some notes.

 

As I mentioned on a couple other reviews I've done a picture is worth a thousand words so I'll mostly just add notes while posting photo's.

 

This was our first Carnival Cruise and we loved it. So I cannot comment or compare to other Carnival Ships or experiences.

 

We personally did NOT encounter any new ship hiccups which really surprised us, and yes this ship did have that new car smell.

 

We booked our own flights but did purchased Airport transfers and Hotel in Barcelona through Carnival.

 

Our cabin location was Deck 5 Havana Inside Cabin and we loved it, we will have more details on this when we get to the photos...

Lets start with our arrival to Barcelona on May 13, 2016

 

Arrived at BCN around 930 AM

We arranged Transfers and Hotel through Carnival and as it stated in the edocs once you collect your luggage and head through the exit Carnival Representatives were waiting there with signs. They quickly looked up our name and ripped off the hotel transfer portion of our edocs and directed us to have a seat.

 

Since we were the first to check in to the transfer service at the airport we had to wait well over an hour before we headed to the hotel.

 

The Hotel we choose was the Tryp Apolo Barcelona Hotel based on location and it didn't disappoint.

 

Once at the hotel we were checked in just before noon, we did not have to wait to get into our room it was available right away…this was very nice bonus.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We seen lots of mixed reviews of this hotel on Trip Advisor our Room nice, clean, staff friendly and helpful. We also didn't encounter any noise late at night since our room wasn't at the front main street of the hotel.

Now it's early Friday afternoon and we didn't want to have a nap so we headed out to see some of the Barcelona sights.

 

We walked down to the Christoper Columbus Statue

 

 

 

 

Then we headed up La Rambles

Eventually went arrived at Placa de Catalunya and then took the city Bus Tour

Fantastic start.

 

Loved the market place picture and your hotel looks very nice. Since the Trieste boarding was a ball of confusion I'm waiting to see if your Barcelona boarding was a bit more organized. And of course ship pics:D

It's now early Friday evening and we are exhausted, we headed back to the hotel with plans to go to a local restaurant and have some Paella. But once we got back to the hotel we were just too tired to go anywhere and went to the cafe attached to the hotel and had a bite to eat. We each got a horrible burger and couldn't eat them so settled on a salad knowing that for the next 10 days we would NOT be going hungry...

Saturday May 14, 2016 Embarkation Day woohoo...

 

We got a greats night sleep and the Hotel buffet breakfast was included with our room and it was not like the meal the night before it was fantastic...

Now lets get this party started with what we are all interested in.

 

Day 1 Saturday May 14, 2014

 

Seems like everyone at this hotel was going on Carnival Vista. Our Carnival Port transfer number was bus 4. We left the hotel around 10 AM

 

Soon After we caught our fist glimpse of the Carnival Vista from the bus...

 

 

 

We arrived at the port at 10:30, quick drop off of the luggage, it goes directly onto a conveyer belt which is to the left (not seen in this photo) after the cross walk.

 

 

 

Checkin was a little slow but nothing we haven’t see before, here is the security check-in line

We were done check-in and walking onto the ship at 11:25 AM (Note: if you look at the photo metadata my time on my camera was off by 1 hour argh...my cell phone had the correct time so some photo timestamps are off by 1 hour the first couple of days)

 

I’ve mentioned check-in was kind of slow but heard several others that checkin was a nightmare, so I guess we arrived at a good time.

I love how nice and pristine and shiny Vista looks. Her whale tail is not bleached pink like some I have seen. Gotta love new ships!
