Kat611 Posted June 7, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 7, 2016 My husband won a free oceanview cabin and a seat in the $100,000 grand finale slot tourney on the Dream. We live in Florida and the cruise is out of NOLA. trying to see if it's worth the airfare and hotel cost. Anyone know how many people are included and how they split the winnings? Top 5, 10, 50, etc.? Also, does anyone know how much it costs to enter since I may want to buy a seat for myself. How many days does it last? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! shortstop95 Posted June 7, 2016 #2 Share Posted June 7, 2016 We just did the 100,000 tournament cruise aboard the Carnival Magic on May 7th. I can speak to how that one worked. Day 1 you register in casino. Day 2 622 folks played in first round heats of 14. Top 420 moved on. Day 3 the 420 played in another heat. Day 4 top 50 are announced who all receive cash prize. 50th place through around 40th receive $200 gradually increases from there. Top 15-50 are done. Top 14 play in more round to determine the winner. It was high energy and LOTS of fun. I highly recommend it. You receive a gift bag upon registring. The casino was crowded like I have never seen a casino be crowded before. There was virtually not an empty seat all week. That level of crowding was challenging at times- but still a fantastic cruise. You should seriously consider going on the cruise. If however you choose not to, I would be interested in purchasing your seat certificate from you.
Kat611 Posted June 7, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted June 7, 2016 Thanks for your reply Shortstop95. Still deciding, but will certainly let you know if we decide not to go and give you the option of having the seat. Have a great night!
shortstop95 Posted June 8, 2016 #4 Share Posted June 8, 2016 We both had "seats" for the tournament but neither of us made it past the first round. Still,it was a lot of fun cheering old and new friends on. It was well run and organized, and a lot of fun all week. And of course there is that $50,000 first place prize! richfret Posted July 15, 2016 #8 Share Posted July 15, 2016 My husband won a free oceanview cabin and a seat in the $100,000 grand finale slot tourney on the Dream. I did the May 7th Carnival Magic Casino cruise. I enjoyed it very much although my luck in the tournament was very, very bad. There is no skill in the playing. You press levers and that is it. Out of about 622 entries, I ended up over 600 and could not qualify to continue. After this tournament, they had another separate tournament for about $80,000. This ticket cost me $75 and I got a second VIFP ticket free after buying the first ticket. I also did not quality with any of these entries. I did not have to pay for the first tournament since the ticket was a transfer to me from another cruiser. If you did not earn a ticket from a previous cruises, you could buy a ticket for $500. The first place prize for the original $100,000 tournament was $50,000. The second prize was $15,000 and 3rd place was $10,000. The remaining $25,000 was split among the next 47 winners with the lowest winner getting about $200. I do not know how long the tournament lasted since I did not qualify on the first sea day and that was the end of it for me. With 50 winners out of 622 entries, that means your odds of winning some thing were about 1 in 12. Those are not bad odds especially when you compare it to the state lotteries. Then again, with an entry fee of $500, you could buy 500 one dollar state lottery tickets. If you are a gambler and enjoy it, you would like this cruise very much. I don't know if I could enjoy it and pay a $500 entry fee. Not qualifying 3 times brings reality into the picture. I thought it would be a sure thing! It was not for me. LoveCruisin15 Posted July 25, 2016 #18 Share Posted July 25, 2016 I won a seat as well and a discounted cruise. Entry into the tournament is 500 dollars and the winnings are dispersed between the top 3 winners. First place is 50,000 and I'm not positive about the rest. SoCalKJ Posted July 31, 2016 #19 Share Posted July 31, 2016 (edited) ...husband and I took a joint birthday cruise on the Imagination out of Long Beach...won a seat for the October tournament, but will not be going (I just sailed out of NOLA in March! and won't be ready to sail again until my next one in April!)... ...in any event, if anyone wants my seat, email me with an offer (obviously it's worth $500 - but I'm considering all reasonable offers) at robinlle@gmail.com Transfers and seat confirmations need to be finalized by the beginning of October, so there are still a few months... Hopefully, someone will enjoy this for me! :) Edited July 31, 2016 by SoCalKJ

jwjax Posted September 8, 2016 #24 Share Posted September 8, 2016 You can seats to these tournaments all day long for about $50. Care to elaborate? Are you talking about onboard purchases, or online? I thought that the entry fee was $500 for the event, unless you won or came in 2nd on a CCL cruise Slot Tournament??
SoCalKJ Posted September 9, 2016 #25 Share Posted September 9, 2016 Care to elaborate? Are you talking about onboard purchases, or online? I thought that the entry fee was $500 for the event, unless you won or came in 2nd on a CCL cruise Slot Tournament?? There are people like me who won a seat in the tournament, but can't go. So there's an option I have on my tourney registration paperwork to transfer the seat to someone who wants it. As much as I'd love to have gotten full-value for it, that ain't happening. Or half-value...that would've been awesome too! However for $60 + certified mail costs, I transferred my seat to another CC member here in Kentucky. I emailed CCL tournament officials and stated my intention to transfer with the specific individual's name, as per the instructions to keep them in the know, and once the money came from the interested party, I raced to the post office and sent them the entry with my signature declaring I was officially transferring my seat. Hopefully, if this person wins, they'll remember me! :D:D:D:D Want an entry? There are a few people I think still selling theirs. Do a broader search, because I think there's another thread where a few people still have entries for sale. Deadline for transfers is, if memory serves, the first week of October. Enough time if you connect with NON-FLAKY members who act as fast as you.
