Coastalbreezes Posted September 17, 2016 #426 Share Posted September 17, 2016 So happy to have you back, JW. :) I am sorry that you and Jerome had to not only deal with the plate thrower but also your dangerous dealings with Jimmy. So glad you are both okay! For the life of me, I still don't know why he was not tossed off the ship at St. Thomas. Tracy
cruiseguys2009 Posted September 18, 2016 Author #427 Share Posted September 18, 2016 (edited) So happy to have you back, JW. :) I am sorry that you and Jerome had to not only deal with the plate thrower but also your dangerous dealings with Jimmy. So glad you are both okay! For the life of me, I still don't know why he was not tossed off the ship at St. Thomas. Tracy Hey Tracy, those were only two of the many kooky wacky incidents that happened. In addition to Creepy, Smelly Saturday Night Live "Pat" (many of you will remember Postal Pat.........EEEWWWWEEEE) dressed in all biker leather regalia, there was the wretched foul smelling man, who actually looked homeless, dressed in army fatigues, copping already-smoked cigarette butts from the ash trays and receptacles, and then the piece de resistance, was the man dressed in his wife's clothing having dinner alone and his wig went awry. This was certainly just the tip of the ice berg. Oh My Gawd. Oh My Gawd. It was like, What did Norwegian put the sailing out on, Groupon? "If you are a wackadoodle, have I got a cruise for you!" We were told that there were almost 400 dockside on Standby, which would have been Employees, T/A's and Friends and Family. I sure hope that some of these knumbnuts weren't employees. LadyShiva Posted September 18, 2016 #429 Share Posted September 18, 2016 JW, I appreciate you writing this epic about your escape from sanity. Thank you for taking one (it seems like MANY) for the team to let us live vicariously. You will never be out of stories for dinner parties, due to that second cruise. The bad part is... those stories are true, and you had to live through them before you could retell.
jojoey Posted September 18, 2016 #430 Share Posted September 18, 2016 Take your time JW! I love your posts and they're so worth the wait! We're doing the Escape in March 2017 too so I'm eager to hear your reviews and latest adventures, and hopeful the crew gels by then - martinis and mojitos must be on point! baryton Posted September 18, 2016 #432 Share Posted September 18, 2016 oh yee's of little faith! I am processing several changes to already composed chapters and will be posting them forthright, as soon as is humanly and humanely possible to do. Life is returning to a somewhat semblance of order so i can return to entertaining my many loyal and trusted followers. It gives me great pleasure to do so. I realize that the new crew, which is the permanent replacement crew for the norwegian escape in 2017, will eventually get their barrings and leave their marks on service, consistency and quality. I can not fault the crew for the majority of our experiences. Some, very much so, yes. Most, though, are not at all the fault of the cruise line. This cruise was a perfect storm of if it's going to happen to "trouble", it will happen to me. Trust me, it did. That being said, we are sailing on the norwegian escape in march, 2017, once more, to finally gauge how the crew has adapted to these new officers who will guide her through to the next chapter. yeeeeaaaaaaahhhhhhh :d

js Posted September 18, 2016 #434 Share Posted September 18, 2016 (edited) Thank you so much! I have been binge reading your review all week while I could at work. Thanks for taking the time out of your life and posting!! My dh and I will be sailing Escape in July for my 50th and leaving the kids at home. Cannot wait! Love your casino stories! We just sailed the Breakaway in August. The second day my dh took my ds to the casino and sat with him and taught him Blackjack since thats what my son wanted to play. The next night my dh and I went to a show and after went to look for our kids. My dd was at craps with her bf and we didnt see my ds and thought he may with new friends he had met. My dh looked and he was sitting at a minimum $100 Blackjack table and up over $1000 OMG. My dh had him finish his hand and go cash out. He is 18 lol At the end of your review where you're talking about the "group" of crazy people, I wonder too how they all got on. I know you joked about Groupon but maybe it was some outlet or person or something that booked these crazies? How could a person grubbing for cigs or a person that would pack all leather for caribbean cruise even know where to begin to book or want to spend their money or put it aside to save for a cruise and why the H E Double Toothpicks would a person that saved or decided to spend hard earned money on a cruise be so destructive? Why not just stay home and be that way and how can they get the drugs on? Is it that easy? I do know I was speaking to someone at my gym who told me they were taking the Breakaway a different week than I was and didnt take the UBP because she doesnt drink but she said she brings some weed on?!?! I asked if she was nervous to do that and she told me she had done it before...OMG I cant wait to meet the Chocolate Cowboy and hope he is still on in July. I love a good bartender that can make a great drink! And also its great your partner is a pilot. I HATE to fly and soo scared and nervous. I admit my dr gives me meds to fly but I also have to drink while taking the pill and even then I do cry and stress most of the trip. My family hates to sit with me and Im mentally wiped out by the time I land. I do not want to stop flying since I love to travel and I know Im not being rational but its a nightmare for me and I so wish I could either enjoy or simply tolerate it. Thank you again for taking the time to write. I love all the details and the pictures!! Thank you. Sailing solo on Oct 8 and looking forward to R&R. Prices have dropped so much, I'm a little concerned about the crazies. But determined to have fun. Wish I could upgrade to haven, but will wait til hubs can come along! Maybe in the spring. Take care! It had the connecting door to our original cabin and we ment the guys next door and neither of us heard each other.not saying we were boring or anything, but just never heard each other. No jackpot on this sailing. Repeated all restaurants for the comparison which will be coming soon.

Bathroom and balcony exactly the same. Enjoy!
kimala Posted September 19, 2016 #443 Share Posted September 19, 2016 Thanks so much for posting JW...I have a question you may or may not know the answer to. We will be sailing on Escape Oct 22nd. I believe that the first sailing of Escape was Oct 23 2015. If I'm correct we will be on the one year anniversary cruise of Escape. I wonder if they do anything special for that cruise. I know when we sailed on RCL Oasis of the seas it happened to be their anniversary and we were greeted with mimosas and or straight champagne, also they had a giant sheet cake and we were each given a certificate that we had sailed on the anniversary cruise. Not a great big deal of extras but you see I remember it all these years later.

Terranjeet Posted September 20, 2016 #446 Share Posted September 20, 2016 (edited) Hi JW, my husband and I truly enjoyed reading your review and experience on the Norwegian Escape. You are so right when you stated that "it take a lot into writing these reviews". I was on the Norwegian Jade in July 2015, for a 14 day Mediterranean cruise and had a great time. I wrote a brief review and it took me forever, LOL. The Jade is a very dated ship, "Hawaii Theme" and Décor, however, we stayed in the Haven, so that made it much more enjoyable. I was on the Breakaway leaving out of New York to Bermuda June 2014, stayed in the haven and because this was a new ship our suite was just gorgeous. We have a home in Sarasota Florida and Indianapolis, In and yes we are now snow birds. We will be on the Norwegian Escape on October 1, 2016 and based on your first review I think we will have a wonderful time. We will be staying in the 2 bedroom suite in the Haven. I planned this trip over a year ago when my sister was first diagnosed with cancer, her physician stated that she should be in remission, however, that was not the case and she passed away January 1, 2016. She was so looking forward to this trip. But this was not God's plan. In saying that "yes things happens, which are beyond our control. I was going to cancel this cruise, however, my other sibling still wanted to go and celebrate my sister, Andrea's life, so that is what we are going to do. Just reading your review made me laugh and how my sister would be laughing along with me. Thanks for the memory, I felt as if my sister was sitting beside me enjoying your journey. She enjoyed fruity drinks like a "strawberry daiquiri" I enjoy a very nice Martini. I cried from laughing so hold when not once but three times you spilled the drinks (trouble). She also enjoyed the Casino and like you she always wanted to be alone, never telling us when she hit the jack pot!!!, however, we would always figure it out because she would start buying gifts for everyone. I truly miss her. Again Thanks for your time and the blessing of me enjoying your cruise through your eyes, a great writer and story teller. poppop53 Posted September 21, 2016 #447 Share Posted September 21, 2016 Hi JW - glad you and Jerome are still doing so well and love your review. We were part of your "Epic" experience but were able to come away without any mishaps (we were got the real turkey). We will be back on the Escape Oct of 2017 and had already booked one of the extended balcony rooms when we saw your video. She who must be obeyed flipped when you said there were not any drawers. Thanks for the tips on the shoe rack and storage bins. Really hope our cruising paths cross again. BTW - Are you guys doing the big Christmas decorations at your place this year? SNJCruisers Posted September 25, 2016 #449 Share Posted September 25, 2016 Definitely enjoyed the review. Would someone mind explaining how shot o'clock works in VIBE? Assuming that it's a real thing :) It was a real thing on our 6 day Escape cruise the first week of August. Late in the afternoon, Minion or Roberto would start putting together different concoctions for us to enjoy. My favorite was a "mini beer". It was made from a chilled bottle of golden tequila and it was topped with a dollop of blended ice cream mix. Went down real easy.
