NCLfamily Posted June 24, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 24, 2016 I presume I can get any unused OBC that I've purchased at home refunded whilst on board? Does it get paid in cash? No fees? Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

In general terms NO!! Unless it is less than USD50 which they will pay in cash. You can withdraw from the casino at a 3% charge; maybe also at Guest Services with the same charge. Otherwise it will be sent to your registered address as a cheque. They will NOT credit it back to the credit card you used to buy it.
NCLfamily Posted June 24, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted June 24, 2016 Oh ok. 3% might still be worth it depending on exchange rates. Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
casofilia Posted June 24, 2016 #4 Share Posted June 24, 2016 Oh ok. 3% might still be worth it depending on exchange rates. Thanks. I never looked where you were from; you can only get it back in USD however you have paid for it.

cruisetimeforme Posted June 27, 2016 #6 Share Posted June 27, 2016 Keep an eye during the cruise on your onboard credit usage. We recently ate 3 different days at Food Republic, only two were applied to OBC, the third and last day they charged us without applying remaining OBC 1st. Went to Guest Services and they agreed it was incorrectly done. They couldn't do anything about it, had to be done with the OBC desk, with their limited hours. I spoke with the asst. financial guy himself later during open hours and he agreed it was incorrect balance, BUT he didn't change it, left it the way it had been! Of course, I didn't realize that till saw the final statement, too late to do anything! Next time, I'll be spending early on just in case they do another mix up
chapchap Posted June 28, 2016 #7 Share Posted June 28, 2016 I just got off the Sky and was refunded significantly more than $50 ($200+) in cash when I closed my account on te last night prior to disembarking. Not sure if this is Sky specific...
don't-use-real-name Posted June 28, 2016 #8 Share Posted June 28, 2016 Plan on getting an itemized invoice statement of stateroom charges about two nights before the cruise ends. Don't wait until the last night and the que line is like forever fraught with problems. Know the difference between refundable and non-refundable OBC ! Non-refundable is the OBC given to you by your TA PCC or NCL. You posted that you purchased your OBC in advance of the cruise from home. That is refundable - smart to cash that out before leaving the ship. The Non-refundable OBC try to ZERO that out before you leave the ship as you can not take it with you - unused is NCL's gain. Also a reminder the non-refundable OBC can not be used to pay down the DSC but your cash in advance OBC can - therefore the need to get that itemized invoice to determine what and how it is to be spent. You can make a pre-cruise payment of the DSC using other payment methods. The last night of the cruise while you are asleep the FINAL invoice fairy will slip it to you under your cabin door or mail slot outside your door and it will be very difficult to undo redo alter adjust timely before you are asked to leave the ship . Distress and misery will be trying to make the invoice correct after the cruise and getting all your money back without issues ! Oh it can be done but then did I tell you about the wonderful cruise I took recently with nightmare financial problems that won't quit. Don't be that person - do as you are doing here plan ahead and know what you need to do to get your money and peace of mind ! With the present Brexit issue the USA $ would be a better refund ! NCLfamily Posted June 28, 2016 Author #9 Share Posted June 28, 2016 Thanks folks. The EU referendum is what's making me ask. NCL are giving me $1.51 to the £. I'm struggling to get $1.31 at home. So pre-purchasing as much as I can and withdrawing what I don't spend on board, even paying 3% seems better. (I will use the cash on the rest of my holiday in Orlando)
