stickey_mouse Posted July 8, 2016 #1 Share Posted July 8, 2016 The press release announcing the plan to construct a partitioned smoking section in the casino on the Escape suggested that the same might be done on the Epic, Breakaway, and Getaway. This leads me to ask the following questions: A) Has the partitioning been effective on the Escape? and B) Have there been any updates on plans to build the same partitioning on the Epic, Breakaway, and Getaway? Rare mking8288 Posted July 9, 2016 #2 Share Posted July 9, 2016 (edited) A new press release from NCL - source ?? Haven't seen/read/heard that the designs were completed and retrofitted for the Escape yet - hence, can't answer about its effectiveness :D As for the Breakaway, I can say for sure - it's most definitely NOT in place at the end of this May ... so, still in the pre-planning stage. Still smoky - in the so called designated non-smoking section without any partition. It is not just the partition, rather the air extractors/exhaust and cleaning/filtration system working as one. Rare BirdTravels Posted July 9, 2016 #3 Share Posted July 9, 2016 Not seen any such announcement. Since the casino extends into the space used for the Chinese restaurant on the BA and GA, there is an opportunity to partition off that space,,, but it would make the entire casino less spacious. That part of the casino is already designated non-smoking, but there is nothing that prevents smoke from floating in from the smoking side. It would be harder on the GA and BA to partition off a non-smoking section. Epic even harder.
stickey_mouse Posted July 9, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted July 9, 2016 http://www.cruisecritic.com/news/news.cfm?ID=6615 Never said anything about a new press release. I think they announced it shortly before the Escape debuted.

seashells Posted July 9, 2016 #6 Share Posted July 9, 2016 Del Rio was on CNBC not long ago explaining that they are building a wall to stop the smoke from escaping and partitioning off part of the casinos for non-smoking. He explained that they could not go to a total non smoking because they would lose 35 to 40% of funds. How soon he didn't say.

I even told a few officers on the ba that was a solution!!!
pspercy Posted July 9, 2016 #9 Share Posted July 9, 2016 Celebrity seems to do OK with no smoking anywhere inside including the casino.

abe3 Posted August 5, 2016 #11 Share Posted August 5, 2016 Smoking should be banned fleet wide.
NLH Arizona Posted August 5, 2016 #12 Share Posted August 5, 2016 Celebrity seems to do OK with no smoking anywhere inside including the casino. And it is a pleasure. The only negative is that they casinos are way too busy and it is hard to get a machine.
Casino Comp Chick Posted August 5, 2016 #13 Share Posted August 5, 2016 Smoking should be banned fleet wide. But it's not and no plans to in the future. Just what I like to hear
stickey_mouse Posted August 5, 2016 Author #14 Share Posted August 5, 2016 The smoke smell in the atrium areas seems like a fairly easy fix. I wish they would put the wheels in motion.
emcelh Posted August 5, 2016 #15 Share Posted August 5, 2016 And it is a pleasure. The only negative is that they casinos are way too busy and it is hard to get a machine. Which contradicts the theory that no one would be playing if they banned smoking.
NLH Arizona Posted August 5, 2016 #16 Share Posted August 5, 2016 Which contradicts the theory that no one would be playing if they banned smoking. Some will quit playing, but others will start playing. I go to Harrah's/Caesar's casinos a lot and I see more non-smokers than I do smokers, which is a big change from about 5 years ago.
stickey_mouse Posted August 9, 2016 Author #17 Share Posted August 9, 2016 I submitted an inquiry on NCL's website asking when the proposed partitions will be built on the Getaway (just b/c it's the ship I'll be on and pertains to my reservation number). The answer I got back was "Within our fleet the Escape is the ship that has a designated section/area for smoking and non-smoking in the Casino." So, basically, they didn't answer my question at all! By the way, how is the casino different on the Escape than it is on the Getaway and Breakaway?
Kalynda Posted August 12, 2016 #18 Share Posted August 12, 2016 I may be asking this question in the wrong forum, and if so, forgive me. I do not smoke but my father does and I am bringing him on a cruise on the Getaway in Feb 2017. 2 things I am trying to get clarified, 1. Can people smoke in Vibe beach Club? 2. Can people smoke if they are at the bar in the casino, or do they literally have to be playing? I know the policy states they must be playing. Anyways again sorry if this is the wrong post... if so maybe someone could point me in the right direction? thanks !
