Which Side on Splendor Eastern Car.

[Working 2 cruise again]

So we are taking a cruise out of Miami on the Carnival Splendor, and I am debating on which side we should be on . I love to watch sunrises and sunsets so that doesn't matter but we are going from Miami to Amber Cove, St. Thomas, San Juan and then Grand Turk. Which side offers better views of the ports? Or are these ports really anything to look at? I am still doing all my research as mostly we will be diving in at least 2 of the ports.

I'm a stickler for port side! In most of the ports, the ships "pull" in and you will be on the correct side to see the port. Sometimes the ships back in but I don't believe that will be the case in the ports you have listed.

St. Thomas usually docks starboard side, but there will be views either side, maybe better port side. San Juan the view is when entering the harbor, on the port side. But then, you could see the same view from starboard when leaving. Grand Turk you pull in, island view from port side, but it there are two ships there, and you docked with port side to the pier, you might have another ship on the other side which would give you a different view...Have not been to Amber Cove. EM

To have shade on the balcony on the return trip I go starboard.

I always want the port side when sailing the Eastern Caribbean. IMO the views in St. Thomas, Grand Turk, and San Juan are more scenic from the port side.

Except for Grand Turk and entering/leaving port of San Juan (view of El Morro) there is no way to know if the ship will pull in or back in. Grand Turk has a very narrow, shallow slip, so ships always pull head in.

 

All the other ports are 50% chance
