cmgirly Posted August 18, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 18, 2016 Hi! This is my husbands first cruise and my second. We are going for our honeymoon/1 year anniversary and I am looking for some tips! We will be on the allure September 25th. First, I booked a inside balcony on deck 14 by the aqua theater. The more research I do the more I am thinking I would rather have an outside balcony. Anyone have any advice? I called my TA and he said it would be around $180 to upgrade but the price could drop. Also, what are some ideas for romantic or just fun things for couples on the boat? Thanks so much in advance!
bouhunter Posted August 18, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 18, 2016 For his first cruise I would say outside ocean balcony. Nothing like it. And more privacy.
Donna_In_India Posted August 18, 2016 #3 Share Posted August 18, 2016 Definitely outside! Watching the sunrise and sunset - and the ocean go by - is one of the best parts of cruising. And it can be romantic too! :)
cb at sea Posted August 18, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 18, 2016 Outside,....your cruise for the ocean! Be able to SEE it!
Merion_Mom Posted August 18, 2016 #5 Share Posted August 18, 2016 You CAN see the ocean and the sunset from a Boardwalk balcony. Only you know how much $180 will "cost" you. If you can afford it, go for it. If it really pinches your travel budget, then stick with what you have. :)
Clarea Posted August 18, 2016 #6 Share Posted August 18, 2016 Go for the outside balcony for his first cruise!
tbmrt Posted August 18, 2016 #7 Share Posted August 18, 2016 (edited) Outside balcony - private and romantic! Edited August 18, 2016 by tbmrt added
Clarea Posted August 18, 2016 #8 Share Posted August 18, 2016 Outside balcony - private and romantic! Good point, no privacy on the inside balcony.
rrmcdonald Posted August 18, 2016 #9 Share Posted August 18, 2016 Room service for breakfast on the balcony overlooking the sea! Also, inside balcony can be noisier with the pool noise/band playing by the pool (maybe not so much down by AquaTheatre)
cmgirly Posted August 18, 2016 Author #10 Share Posted August 18, 2016 Thanks for the advice! I think I'm just gonna go for the ocean view balcony! It will strain our budget a little but we only get one honeymoon :)
Langley Cruisers Posted August 18, 2016 #11 Share Posted August 18, 2016 Thanks for the advice! I think I'm just gonna go for the ocean view balcony! It will strain our budget a little but we only get one honeymoon :) YEA! I was typing my post when your decision was posted, so that's awesome! You will not regret it. I think it's important to be able to connect to the sea on a cruise; my opinion is that it is more difficult on the big gals because of the "inward facing" neighborhoods. An ocean balcony will give you that glorious view and breeze in your face. Enjoy yourselves. :) .
IsanTom Posted August 19, 2016 #12 Share Posted August 19, 2016 Nothing like an outside balcony especially during a honeymoon!
spookwife Posted August 19, 2016 #13 Share Posted August 19, 2016 while inside balconies let you be part of the of hustle and bustle, an outside lets you have that privacy and romance a honeymoon deserves. you made a good call.

gliles Posted August 19, 2016 #15 Share Posted August 19, 2016 When you get old like DH and I, you can get the inside to people watch. For now, go for the romance :) Breakfasts and sunsets on the balcony are amazing.
cincicruisers Posted August 19, 2016 #16 Share Posted August 19, 2016 You made a great decision to go with a balcony. Enjoy breakfast in the morning, wine in the evening while having private time on your own balcony. If you can swing it a night in one of the specialty restaurants would be romantic. Enjoy your cruise.

Iluvmypuggle Posted August 20, 2016 #21 Share Posted August 20, 2016 Glad you are able to take advantage of the balcony.. You can always check back to see if pricing drops. Some free (mostly) honeymooner things to do: Watch a sunrise or sunset from your balcony or the top of the ship Bring Mr. & Mrs. drink coolies or Go-cups & take pictures & toast with Say Yes Day - you each get a day on your trip where spouse has to say YES to anything you suggest doing, whether it be trying a new food, mini-golf, etc. Plan balcony time - Give yourself enough time to enjoy a drink on your balcony, maybe before dinner or even morning breakfasts. It's nice to use it and really enjoy seeing the water. Write each other a letter to give to each other on your 10th anniversary Participate in the Love & Marriage show! Happy honeymooning & have a great trip!
