We are doing a seven day southern cruise and I was wondering what currency to bring. We are from Canada and I assuming with the exchange rate tha brining American dollars us best?

All of the islands take US dollars, except possibly Martinique.

From my experience all the Caribbean islands we have been to take US cash. Just spent a week in Tortola VBI's and no issues on using US money. Also most places take Credit Cards

US dollar is accepted throughout the Caribbean only exception is Martinique that is mainly euro if you go beyond the port area.

We are Canadian too and we always bring USD for spending in the islands as its widely accepted. Don't really need cash on the ship since our onboard spending gets charged to our card (we have a travel visa that gives us a competitive exchange rate) - might as well take the points! We DO however occasionally give additional cash tips on the ship, so there is that to consider also
