cabinfever60 Posted September 6, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 6, 2016 I will be on the Coral Princess next month, so I have a question for those that might know if they serve Ribeye steaks in the Bayou Cafe? If not can you please tell me what kind of steaks they do serve?
hockeygal54 Posted September 6, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 6, 2016 Generally a rib eye, NY Strip, filet and T Bone. You can also get a tail added if you like. I'm going to try to weasel a piece of halibut or Chilean sea bass with my cow selection in a few weeks on the Regal. [emoji4]

TwoCruisers Posted September 7, 2016 #10 Share Posted September 7, 2016 I can’t speak for the selection of steaks on the Coral Princess, but I did have a Ribeye in the Crown Grill on the Royal Princess this past February.

kcellup Posted September 7, 2016 #12 Share Posted September 7, 2016 FYI... a porterhouse is a T-bone style cut with both rib eye and filet mignon, so yes they have rib eye Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Rare taxatty Posted September 7, 2016 #13 Share Posted September 7, 2016 Steaks and most of the rest at the Bayou Cafe selections are very worth the upcharge. Skip the gator--it's vile--the only gator worth eating is the tail.

If not can you please tell me what kind of steaks they do serve? Ask if the Chef can prepare for you a 32 oz. Ribeye or Porterhouse. Cowboy style Tomahawk cut.. I like mine charred outside and rare inside. :D. Add a lobster tail or two if stll hungry. Enjoy your cruise. And good eating! :) Edited September 7, 2016 by Kingofcool1947
cruisehappy001 Posted September 7, 2016 #18 Share Posted September 7, 2016 (edited) FYI... a porterhouse is a T-bone style cut with both rib eye and filet mignon, so yes they have rib eye Sent from my iPhone using Forums I don't think this is actually completely right, at least in the US, as Ribeyes are a rib steak generally without a bone, but sometimes are bone-in and called a Cowboy Ribeye. These come from further up in the cow toward the middle in the Rib section of the cow. You can get a Ribeye in the Crown Grill, but I don't think so in the Bayou Steak House. (I still bet you could ask, especially if it is a day before and maybe they can accommodate your craving?) A Porterhouse and a T-Bone are close to each other, but a Porterhouse has more Tenderloin steak than a T-Bone and are cut further back in the cow from the Short Loin section of the cow. One side of the T-Bone or Porterhouse is the short loin or Strip Steak, and the other side is the tenderloin. T-Bones can be cut thinner by definition at about 0.5"+, and Ribeyes should be about 1.25"+ at its widest. The Tenderloin is commonly called a Filet Mignon, and the Strip Steak is commonly called a New York Steak. Regardless, all are great steaks, and I have a hard time choosing between Porterhouse and Ribeyes!!! :D I am really craving a good steak now!!! Happy cruising! Whimsy Posted September 7, 2016 #21 Share Posted September 7, 2016 I was just on the Coral in August and we dined in the Bayou Cafe. No ribeye offered, it's my favorite steak too, I was looking for one.
sunsetbeachgal Posted September 7, 2016 #22 Share Posted September 7, 2016 The filet in the Bayou is excellent. Seven of our party of eight ordered it, cooked exactly as each person had ordered, tender and flavorful. So many filets aren't as flavorful any more, this was! cruisehappy001 Posted September 7, 2016 #23 Share Posted September 7, 2016 (edited) I got excited thinking about the Porterhouse at the Bayou Grill that I looked over some of my old pictures and found some "Food Porn" to share to make everyone else crave a great steak!!! Happy Cruising!! Mark Added: Notice the size of the steak in relation to the plate!!! Edited September 7, 2016 by cruisehappy001
