CRUISEBOY305 Posted April 11, 2017 #3101 Share Posted April 11, 2017 Has anyone heard about the progress on the build of the first icon class ship?I heard it will be deployed to Australia - home port Brisbane aligned to new terminal build scheduled for 2019/2020 season! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Icon is still a long way off. Construction hasn't even started and the ink is barely dry on the notice of intent. There are still 2 Oasis ships and 2 Quantum on the way before. the only bit of information that we have about Icon is that it will be called Icon. i haven't heard that she will be deployed to Australia and neither has anybody else on earth for that matter. Maybe Quantum 4? Very likely but not Brisbane.

Ashland Posted April 11, 2017 #3104 Share Posted April 11, 2017 Any one know the approx timeframe now that RCI will open Singapore as well as China schedules ? So tired of waiting and hearing random dates that come and go and the dreaded TBD.

I'm trying to wait for the release as there was quite an oddity with Radiance -- last in port in Sydney 24 April 2019, yet is somehow in Papeete, Tahiti for 27 April 2019. There's just NO way that information is accurate... so going to have to hold out for the full itineraries to be released.

I know we've gone over this 1000 times, but can Explorer get through the Panama Canal? The new Norwegian Bliss can.

MsDolly Posted April 11, 2017 #3113 Share Posted April 11, 2017 The plot thickens ~~ So crazy the information or mis-information out there, my TA has been calling RCI to book AUS for us since last week even though I knew the release date was TBD and yesterday she was told today, this morning she was told at some point this afternoon, but end of the work day in Florida will be upon us shortly and still no release:mad: Perhaps fate is trying to tell us not to go back......nay! I was hoping for the Explorer, done a TP before on her, it's just a nice warm relaxing trip for us. Belinda
CRUISEBOY305 Posted April 11, 2017 #3114 Share Posted April 11, 2017 The plot thickens ~~ This is like a cruise critic novela [emoji33] Soon we'll find out Oasis and Majesty are Sisters and Quantum had an affair with Empress and Explorer is REALLY the father. Hoopster95 Posted April 11, 2017 #3117 Share Posted April 11, 2017 (edited) I know we've gone over this 1000 times, but can Explorer get through the Panama Canal? According to ChengP and BillOh on the various Canal threads over the past year, if: all the planets align pigs grow wings and begin to fly and when hell freezes over.... Maybe, just maybe, with the lowest tides of the year, at a certain time of the day, on a certain month of the year, Voyager Class might have a few feet clearance. If Norwegian Bliss can, then Explorer certainly can i'm sure Sent from my iPhone using Forums Bliss can only fit through the new Canal per her advertised measurements. So easily can do the 1/2 Canal transit into Gatun Lake from the Caribbean side... but how high is she? Can she fit under the Bridge of Americas for a full transit? I cannot find her height quickly via google but I'll keep looking. Obviously if she's scheduled for a repo from Miami to the West Coast she she must be able to fit under the BoA! Interesting... I see she's booked for a Vancouver to LA repo which includes San Fran... So she must also gets under Vancouver's Lion's Gate Bridge and Golden Gate. Well well well... http://www.wikiwand.com/en/Norwegian_Breakaway http://www.wikiwand.com/en/Norwegian_Bliss Breakaway is 179ft tall (approx same as Radiance)... I didn't know that Bliss supposedly get one more deck so I suppose still under the 200 foot span height of the Lion's Gate and the 203-205 ft span height of the BoA for the Panama Canal transit. Voyager & Freedom Class are approx 206-207 feet tall
