Kissara22 Posted October 31, 2005 #1 Share Posted October 31, 2005 Hi,.we're a family of six with kids ages 7,9,16,18...OK the 18 year is no longer a kid. :) We're still deciding on which cruise to book for spring break to the Mexican Riviera. I'm writing about the kid programs on both ships. We are all very adventurous and we're leaning heavily on the Vision of the Seas, Rock wall etc. Is there anything special or not so special about Camp Carnival that I should take into consideration? Any other thoughts regarding the different kids programs? Thanks,....Any comments would be highly appreciated. I also posted this on the Carnival and Family Cruising sections of CC. rsjc Posted October 31, 2005 #2 Share Posted October 31, 2005 Have not been on RCCL yet but have been on the Pride. The Pride is a very nice ship. Our daughter was 6 and loved it. The Pride does have a really nice waterslide at the rear of the ship. Adults were quite regularly on the slide as well.
IMNiles Posted October 31, 2005 #3 Share Posted October 31, 2005 I can't comment much on kids programs, but I've sailed both Vision and Pride, and my gut reaction was that there was more to do (in general) on Pride - a wider assortment of lounges, etc, and as a huge bonus for me, Texas Hold'em at the Casino! I spent so much time playing poker, perhaps my perception is skewed! That said, they're both great ships. I'm not much on Rock Climbing, so that feature was not a factor for me. Kissara22 Posted October 31, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted October 31, 2005 Well I just booked the Vision of the Seas for our Spring Break. It will be our kids first time cruising. All in all it came down to the room locations and price. On the Pride we weren't able to get a guaranteed interior stateroom across from an exterior room, or a 4 person room. Evidently the Pride is highly sought because it was nearly sold out for the 3/26/06 sailing. So if you're thinking of booking, ...quit hesitating and do it now!! :D
FitzLA Posted October 31, 2005 #5 Share Posted October 31, 2005 I would say the Pride. As a newer, larger ship you will get a larger stateroom, and their are more activities on this that the older Vision of the Seas. Both are quite nice, but for kids, I would say The Pride. RDeagazio Posted November 1, 2005 #6 Share Posted November 1, 2005 The Pride is one of the ugliest ships I've ever seen. The atrium reminded me of the haunted house at Disney. Dark, tacky and cheap looking. The rest of the ship was also pretty ugly-- but that's CCL's trademark. The service on the Pride was nowhere near as great as it was on the Vision. The food was good on both-- Windjammer was better on Vision than Pride's buffet. The Pride also held more people and felt over crowded. There always seemed to be lines and mobs of people everywhere you went. The Vision had more of an open, classy feel and there never seemed to be as many people onboard as there were. RCI also has a fantastic kids/teen program, so my vote would be for the Vision.
