tazza_0712 Posted December 29, 2016 #101 Share Posted December 29, 2016 There will be another ship at White Bay on the 28th, so keep that in mind when it comes to the potential for a taxi queue. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Rare MicCanberra Posted December 29, 2016 #102 Share Posted December 29, 2016 He doesn't work, just shows up and looks at ships, it's a hard life;):D I would say he works very hard not to stay on the ship each time.:p
gbenjo Posted December 29, 2016 #103 Share Posted December 29, 2016 Gbenjo this is a question for you. Do you know where your working on the 9th February as I am sailing out on the Radiance on this day? Thanks As Gut said I don't " work" just get paid to look at ships ( jealousy is a curse:D ) I think I will be at the OPT for the Ovation as I am flying up to Coffs Harbour that evening and I need to catch a train to the airport after work but I could possibly go to White Bay at some time during the day. I normally do Apass security photos on Radiance but not sure if that will happen with her being moored at Athol Buoy. and the Ovation needing a lot of staff. gbenjo Posted December 29, 2016 #104 Share Posted December 29, 2016 Agreed, if Royal do not have a shuttle service then get a cab, I would think you would easily make the airport by 9.30am.:D Another option is to catch the ferry to Darling Harbour and then the train to the airport but with two ships at White Bay on the day access for the ferry may be minimal. rkmw Posted December 31, 2016 #106 Share Posted December 31, 2016 someone posted on FB why RCI cant take the disembarking passengers and their luggage to OPT and they could get their transport home from the OPT instead of White Bay and then when that was done to send the tenders to White Bay and pick up the embarking passengers
TxKroozer Posted January 3, 2017 #107 Share Posted January 3, 2017 (edited) I just reviewed the map of Sydney Harbour and noted that the Athol Bouy is just off the Taronga Zoo and the White Bay Terminal is under the Sydney Harbour Bridge across from Darling Harbour. That will be some tender ride for sure. Edited January 3, 2017 by TxKroozer

My TA spoke to RCI and provided them with our flight #'s and departure times and RCI told my TA they would be escorting the early flight folks with RCI transfers first off the ship to make sure they make it to airport on time for international flights as early as 11:00AM. Whew! Glad I can relax and not worry about possibly missing my flight home after cruise. I booked flights on my own as RCI did not have a semi-direct option available at the time of booking. My older daughter is a medical resident who had on call duty the day after and we have to get home that day so a later flight would not work. It would be a total " DEBARKLE"....... what a dumb arse.

Hey, people still say the same thing that climate change doesn't exist because the environment can always handle more pollution and crap thrown at it. If they can claim that, why wouldn't any terminal equally be able to handle more because it currently handles it so well?!

chry5alis Posted October 27, 2019 #113 Share Posted October 27, 2019 Just wondering how all this ended up working out. Looks like the same thing may happen to us next year. At this stage we are scheduled to come in to White Bay on the new/second-hand Pacific Adventure and RCI Serenade of the Seas is listed for the OPT. As far as i know neither ship will fit under the bridge.
Sallyandtex Posted October 27, 2019 Author #114 Share Posted October 27, 2019 Just to prepare you it was a nightmare. Was a very hot day we had to wait for hours in hot marquee at White Bat until processed into buses that took us down the road and loaded onto big ferries. It took many hours and then we sat in the harbour even longer until 11pm so didn't even get the sail away feeling The cruise itself was wonderful

We boarded Ovation by ferry from White Bay Dec 2017. No buses, no marquee, assembled in the terminal. No problems at all. Luck of the draw perhaps? But that's no consolation if you happen to draw the short straw.

If it is the 30th October you are talking about , your ship is overnighting in Sydney so the first day you will be moored at Athol Buoy and tendered like any other tender port and then after the Serenade leaves You will move to the OPT and then the debark / embark will be as normal on the second day. Yes it is the 30th and I wouldnt mind at all if that happens but our cruise is supposed to end on the 30th not the 31st so it's a bit confusing. I thought maybe P&O would use the extra day for media and publicity purposes.

They've had disembarkation from Athol before, and it's not difficult. Though it is a bit slower.
