Where to stay economically in Miami?

Any suggestions?

I would bid on Priceline. You can get a 3* downtown for cheap ($50) (depending on the time of year). If you have never bid on priceline go to www.biddingfortravel.com and you can read all about how much to bid in what area from people who have bid and won. Good luck. We stayed at Holiday Inn for $100 a night, but we booked directly with them. It overlooks the port and is across from Bayside Marketplace. Good luck!

I prefer this one also.

Nice clean hotel and closest to the port. It is directly across the street from the Bayside Marketplace that has all kinds of shops and restaurants.

I have stayed there and will stay there again before my next cruise.

If you join their priority club you get discounted rooms.

They do fill up fast. I have already booked mine for Sept. 2006. If you book on the internet at their site, you can book earlier than calling their hotel direct.

if you can handle a "little grunge"... we have stayed at The Days Inn... both the one by the airport and the one by the port. They are both under 80 dollars for the night. Plus.. free shuttle service from the airport and then free shuttle service to the port.
