Drazil65 Posted May 1, 2017 #76 Share Posted May 1, 2017 Tandoor Grill is by far the best food on the ship...open only for lunch so need to make effort to catch it open. Miss that place and crave the food once we returned from cruise. Cannot wait for our upcoming December cruise on the Magic again, great ship and had lots of fun!!! ***anyone can use the gym showers and getting ready area, I always send my husband and teen son up to shower and dress for dinner so I can have the cabin and bathroom to myself. We can all get ready at same time and it gives me some time alone to get dressed and do hair without someone needing the bathroom.
gigito2 Posted May 2, 2017 #77 Share Posted May 2, 2017 Oh the excitement of a first cruise! Packing - if you are going to "dress" for dinner, take things that are interchangeable - like khaki pants/shorts that the kids can wear more than one time. If you are sun lovers and water lovers, don't pack as many clothes because more than likely you will spend most of your sea days in a swimsuit. Don't over pack - something I'm still working on after 7 cruises! It's just hard when you have kids though. Don't be afraid to book excursions on your own instead of with Carnival. Just keep in mind about the time restraints, time changes and be sure you are back at the ship in a timely manner. We have never taken Carnival excursions and have always made it back on time. Cost is less and you normally get more personal attention I believe. Costa Maya is one of our favorite places - take a bus or taxi to Mahahual (downtown) and go to the beach. There are several places that you can go to that will reserve lounge chairs and umbrellas for you free of charge as long as your purchase drinks or some food from them. It is absolutely beautiful. The place where we went arranged massages on the beach for us, snorkeling, etc. and it was a stress free day. The water or gorgeous and the sand never gets hot. Cozumel - Depending on what you want to do, I would suggest a driver for the day. We have used the same one several times and he is wonderful. He is a true gentleman and has taken us all over the island - any where we wanted to go and told us all about the island, it's people, etc. Belize - we loved the cave tubing. I would definitely suggest an excursion here unless you just want to tender in and look around right at the port. Roatan - we did a private tour here to - it was interesting and we enjoyed it as well. I'm not supposed to mention specific tour guides, etc. here but if you are interested in the ones we have used, let me know and I'll get you my email address. Have fun and don't try to do it all - you just can't and if you try, you'll still need a vacation when this one is over! I'd be grateful if you would share the info re: your driver in Cozumel. We'll be sailing on the Sensation June 15 - 20 and have MUCH to learn. Thank you. gretchenohar@hotmail.com

summersigh Posted May 15, 2017 #79 Share Posted May 15, 2017 We sailed the Sunshine twice last year and loved the live music every night in the Ocean Plaza - most nights it was a 5 piece band with 2 singers. We stopped by often for our nightcap at the very least. How does this compare to what may or may not happen on the Magic? If there's not music nightly in the Ocean Plaza where can one find live music on the Magic?
hard_eight Posted May 15, 2017 #80 Share Posted May 15, 2017 There's usually music in the atrium, the red frog rum bar, usually something playing in the ocean plaza, and of course the piano bar.

I have booked through cruise lines before, but more when I was just starting out, Last cruise several of my excursions were from recommendations from CC members. I have done the driver for the day in Cozumel and would like to do that again with my husband who'd never been there. Can you email me the information @ lmazzorato@gmail.com. Also, who and what did you do for your tour in Belize. I've done the bike tour, ruins, city tour, etc. Thanks so much!

micheecruise Posted May 24, 2017 #83 Share Posted May 24, 2017 The pool and hot tubs at the rear of the ship are usually less crowded, it's usually much quieter back there too. Thats where youll find Tandoor We plan on taking advantage of the pool at the rear of the ship, I found that on our last cruise being around the main pool was just a bit much and want something a little more quiet (but not as quiet as the Serenity area :D) My questions is, Is the Tandoor restaurant free? Thanks!!

meholzapfel Posted August 30, 2017 #89 Share Posted August 30, 2017 My husband, son, his girlfriend and I are all going on the Magic, western Caribbean in January. We are going to Cozumel, Belize, Mahogany Bay and Costa Maya. I am trying to figure out when the cruise elegant nights are usually. I'm hoping to surprise my son's girlfriend with a hair and nail treatment prior to one of the elegant dinners. thank you in advance for any information
bUU Posted August 30, 2017 #90 Share Posted August 30, 2017 I've viewed the FunTimes for a few cruises and it isn't always the same but it seems typically to be the night of the first sea day and the second to last night, when it is an early departure from port. micheecruise Posted September 21, 2017 #91 Share Posted September 21, 2017 Another question...I saw a video of the balloon drop that they have done the last evening of the cruise. Do they still do this? It looks pretty neat!
April3393 Posted September 24, 2017 #92 Share Posted September 24, 2017 Just got back from the Magic. The color of the ship is nice a cool green color. The water slide is very nice. There were a couple of places to eat that I hadn't seen on any of the other ships like the Red Frog pub and a pork bar-b-que restaurant on the deck. There's a covered upper deck which is really nice. The shows were awesome as always. The casino seemed usual. We stayed in an interior Spa cabin. The decor was nice although we didn't use any Spa amenities. April3393 Posted September 24, 2017 #93 Share Posted September 24, 2017 Is there a private dressing area by the showers? Could a person get dressed, makeup, hair etc., in this room? Was gonna use the spa shower but there are only 2 and not very private. The door is frosted glass with a large gap and just pulls open. I didn't see anywhere to change privately. April3393 Posted September 24, 2017 #94 Share Posted September 24, 2017 Tip on the 24 hr pizza...the guys work really hard with long lines of ppl in a hot kitchen, tell them 'Thank you'. I see ppl just ignoring staff as if they're just robots. Not cool. Here's the tip order the pizza with all of the different cheeses and request pepperoni on top of it. It's easier for the guys making it to order it that way (if you want pepperoni on it) Sent from my SM-N920P using Forums mobile app
