Britannia Aft Suites & Cabins

I was told by a P&O customer service advisor to book B deck for my honeymoon as it wouldn't be overlooked. Is he wrong?

Just to be clear - it's only the B deck cabins on the back that are overlooked - not the ones along the side.

The B deck rear facing cabins are marked on P&Os brochure deck plans with a "V" which stands for overlooked.

On the deck plan, none of the B deck cabins have a 'v' on them.

Well, he is wrong. Unfortunately P&O land side staff don't always know the ships that well.

However, we have had B724 which is a middle Suite overlooking the wake. It is indeed overlooked by the Sunset Bar, but I will say it never bothered us. People do not go to the Sunset Bar to sit and look down at other people's balconies, they go there to look out, either at the view in port, or the sea. Whenever I was out on the balcony I would actually take a look up to see if anyone was actually looking down, and to be honest I only saw it about 4 times on the whole of the two week cruise, and then only for seconds.

The balconies on B deck are, bar none, the best on the ship. You will get a settee to sit on, as well as a table, two chairs and two loungers. It is a stunning balcony and a stunning view.

Go enjoy your honeymoon and don't worry! :)

Thank you :D

Probably the best thing to do is to find a photo of the Britannia aft on the web (side view). That way you can see that she is stepped at the back. The A and B are overlooked from the public areas never mind just the cabins above. We have stayed on C and F deck aft which were overlooked by the cabins above. I have to say that most people are very respectful of peoples privacy and don't hang over the balcony looking down on you sunbathing. The main time you will be affected is entering and leaving port. The soot problem was worse I think when we were delayed in one of the Canaries and had to "motor" the next day.

At the risk of sounding like I'm in a pantomime "Oh yes they do":) Certainly on the P&O website - see here:

http://www.pocruises.com/global/deckplans/britannia/4/1/deck%20plans%202016%20britannia.pdf

Very interesting that all the suites on the back are shown with a V in the newer version of the deck plan but only A and B on the older one.

How strange, the deck plan I have doesn't show what your link shows. I've attached a pic, hope it's worked.

Edit: I can't seem to upload the screen shot from my iPhone ☹️

I could not get either link to work. I just googled Britannia deck plans. It came up with the P&O site and two sets of plans for different dates

2016/17 and 2018/19

Never mind though because I've pre registered today and paid deposits so I'm positively glowing with glee. First time cruiser, finally booked, I don't care about any overlooking balconies, I'm going to have a ball :)

Right on, I don't care who sees me having a good time.

I think you've picked the best place on the ship - we always book cabins on the back. Nothing beats sitting watching the wake of the ship and since you're the end of the corridor you get very few if any people going past your cabin - so nice and quiet!

(I made the point about these cabins showing on the deck plan as overlooked, because your "cruise consultant" should have access to this information when they advised you.)

We have had 3 aft wraps on Arcadia, people don't generally look down, the only time I've noticed it is when we sailed into particularly high profile ports and you get a lot of people on deck. I've booked into E deck aft wrap on Britannia and if I see a B deck become free I will swap in a heartbeat!

Certainly like the sound of possible quiet without kids running up and down outside in the corridors. Glad to hear that we've picked a potentially good spot :)

Currently aboard Britannia.

Cabin g728 (deck 8) and the noise from live lounge is horrendous - loud thumping bass sound until the early hours.

It's that bad that we have to get drunk in order to pass out when we reach the cabin.

It costs a fortune as wife drinks like a fish.

Oh no! We have had F729 and it was ok and we have booked the same again for May. We did get some dull sounds from the bass but nothing that caused us a problem at all. Hope the bar bill isn't too bad !

Presto, the easy way to get over noise from the disco is to go and join in.

No worries. The 'Oh no!' was for the other post as I do know it is louder on deck G. (Met someone who had a cabin above the Live Lounge and they were not happy bunnies).

We were more than happy on F729 and will 'sing along' from the balcony, glass in hand ;-)

Now, don't take me the wrong way, but I never had you down as the John Travolta type :D

We're more the tinkling piano and cocktails types and just boogie from a distance ;)
