pspercy Posted November 21, 2016 #26 Share Posted November 21, 2016 (edited) Right now, on the mass market lines, if you want a smokeless casino the answer is to cruise with Celebrity. "Smoking is not permitted in any dining venue, casino, theater, lounge, hallway, elevator, or corridor. This policy includes smoking-like products such as electronic cigarettes. Smoking is not permitted inside any stateroom, nor on any stateroom veranda." Edited November 21, 2016 by pspercy
BeachChik Posted November 21, 2016 #27 Share Posted November 21, 2016 I wish the whole Casino was non-smoking. It plainly stinks. I have seen many drunk people on cruise ships. They walk as if the ship is rocking even though it is totally smooth. I do not drink, and I watch people. The amount of alcohol some people consume amazes me. If I were to drink that much, I would be dead. They are well over the 'legal limit' and probably 2-3 times what they should be drinking. But because of the unlimited drinks, they just drink more and more. Well since they aren't driving the ship a legal limit doesn't apply. And unless you have watched them all day you have no idea how much someone has drank to be able to say they have drank 2-3 times more than they should. I don't drink either but I'm not worrying about those that do. People here worry too much about what strangers are doing. My vacation time is too precious for that. terrierjohn Posted November 21, 2016 #29 Share Posted November 21, 2016 Maybe that's that persons type of fun. I know my favorite part of the cruise is drinking, gambling, smoking and eating! Just because that's not your cup of tea doesn't give you the right to down it. On one hand, I try to be considerate when I'm at the table smoking by blowing it up or away from other players. I understand some people are more sensitive to the smoke. But do you not remember a time no long ago where it was completely normal to light up practically anywhere on a cruise ship, airplane, restaurant, doctors office? I bet you didn't complain back then because it was the norm. The fact is let people have fun and you have your own fun as well. Don't worry yourself about other people for differences in the way they are enjoying themselves on vacation. [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Forums I understand that on the next new builds RCI will put the casino on the top deck and the smoking section will be outside.:);)

postmeome Posted November 21, 2016 #32 Share Posted November 21, 2016 My wife and I both smoke, drink and gamble,we were on Navigator this year and we were both enjoy playing slots in the casino .One night we were both very drunk,we had been sharing her drinks package,we were on WOLF RUN,my wife's fav machine in the smoking section,my wife lit her pipe and some woman complained about the smell,so she put it out and had a cigar instead,3 hours later and 10 rum and cokes we cashed our $1.50 out and went back to our cabin. We had a inside virtual balcony,I opened a bottle of brandy what i smuggled on board and had a nightcap,I lit a cig,had a smoke and flicked it overboard only to bounce off the screen and land on the bed and burn a hole hole in the sheets. We were fined $250 ,luckily we had prepaid our grats,so it came out of that.Oh we complained about soot on our balcony for 3 days and they gave us 25% off our next cruise and a free meal in chops:)

BND Posted November 21, 2016 #35 Share Posted November 21, 2016 We were on GR Oct 31-Nov 12 and both formal nights were non-smoking in the casino. I loved that. We were on Celebrity in July and had 7 wonderful smoke free days.

CP3o Posted November 21, 2016 #37 Share Posted November 21, 2016 I'm almost surprised with the changing smoking rates they don't design two casinos into their deck plans on newer ships to attempt to get at both revenues. If studies support that 2/3's of gamblers smoke, make one bigger than the other and put non-smokers in the smaller one. If the non-smoking venue is more crowded and makes more money at some point, they can swap the spaces out next time they are remodeling carpet years later. Merion_Mom Posted November 22, 2016 #40 Share Posted November 22, 2016 Empress' casino is non-smoking. Enchantment is reportedly experimenting with being non-smoking. On Majesty, we had a notice in our cabins saying that they are going to enforce the "smoking only if you are gambling" in the casino. In other words, you can't treat the casino as a smoking lounge. troykahack Posted December 5, 2016 #42 Share Posted December 5, 2016 (edited) What about Navigator? On Serenade, smoking was flowing full force in the Casino. Only non smoking hours were 6pm to close on both formal nights. People were using the bar as a smoking area. I complained to the Casino Host to no avail. He said his instructions were to allow smokers at the bar even if not playing. All seats at the bar were full most of the time. Problem with this, it is in the middle between the smoking half and the non smoking half, right in the middle of the Casino. I sure hope Royal rethinks this. At the tables, the smoke seemed to be tolerable for the most part. Although I would rather the Casino to be smoke free, it was only bad enough for me to leave 2 times. Very few players after the first two sea days. I was rolling craps and other table games without other players most nights. The last two sea days it was absolutely dead. One or two nights the Casino closed before midnight due to lack of players. Edited December 5, 2016 by troykahack

Leaving on Serenade today and will let you know if any NON SMOKING night. Last year cruised on the ROS out of Sydney, AU. No smoking allowed in the casino whatsoever. Has there ever been a No Smoking night in the casino on RC ships? What an excellent idea! Must remember that for my comment card when I get off the NOS mid-December.

buzzard05 Posted December 6, 2016 #45 Share Posted December 6, 2016 What about Navigator? People were smoking in the casino, but it wasn't overwhelming when we were on two weeks ago (I'm pretty sensitive to smoke smell, and it didn't bother me in there). With that said, I also didn't spend hours in there...if I had, I may have a different opinion. I don't know if they had a smoking/non-smoking section. There is actually a limit to number of drinks a Casino VIP may have in the Casino. It may or may not be enforced. The Casino Host was enforcing this policy on our Serenade cruise. troykahack Posted December 6, 2016 #47 Share Posted December 6, 2016 Vapor cigarettes are included in the no smoking policy, including balconies. Have found that the staff does nothing about the use. Very prevalent in the solarium when I was on the Serenade earlier this. All Vaping should be banned from ships as several have caught fire recently. You can see this all over the internet. They are a fire hazard.
spunks Posted December 6, 2016 #48 Share Posted December 6, 2016 I have noticed several things that happen more and more it seems. One is that the casinos are more and more drawing people that are there to smoke and not to gamble, The other thing I noticed is that the tables and machines are no longer very busy. I suspect this will work itself out as the revenue figures start building up. Another thing....allowing smoking in only one part of the casino is very like allowing peeing in only one end of the pool....it just goes everywhere. bogofman Posted December 6, 2016 #49 Share Posted December 6, 2016 We recently did the Navigator TA, Smoking in the Casino, and from what i could tell, mainly caused by people sitting around ash trays and not doing any gambling, oouzed out into the schooner bar ( could not sit here) out the other end into the stairwell leading to the bars and reception and worst still up the chimney ( the spiral stairs) into the royal Promenade, causing the seats outside of the pub and the wine bar to also be no go seating areas for us. i went down one day to see where all the smell was coming from and it seemed to only be a hand full of people. not a room rammed with smokers, even so the smoke does not stay inside the casino but ventures out to adjacent areas. The voyager class seem to experience worse problems than freedom class , as we have not noticed the issues as bad on independence. must be the ventilation system not coping ?? I was in the pub one day when a lady got up took her cigs and went down to the casino, to return a few minutes later fully refreshed. hence using the casino as a smoking den. these ships have smoking lounges so why does the casino need to be used for smoking as well.
