Rare ontheweb Posted October 27, 2016 #26 Share Posted October 27, 2016 Getting something to eat after the car ride and plane ride to get to the ship. Winning my first trophy at trivia. Going ashore whether on our own or an excursion when we have something planned for that port.

meatloafsfan Posted October 27, 2016 #30 Share Posted October 27, 2016 Eating, sleeping, gambling, trivia, other day time activities, relaxing - all in one central location. For me, it's the inclusive feel - everything is at my fingertips. It's why I love cruising.
jmcancruise Posted October 27, 2016 #31 Share Posted October 27, 2016 I love these type of questions. I love going on a week long date with my hubby. Dressing up, going to shows, eating nice meals etc...... Cruising for me is a total escape from all the work and concerns of everyday life. We have been on enough cruises now that when we step on the ship it feels like going home. Oh by the way we are "going home again in about 5 1/2 months. Aquahound Posted October 27, 2016 #36 Share Posted October 27, 2016 Hot breakfast on my balcony while out at sea. Unfortunately, lines are cutting back so much that it's only possible on some lines nowadays. :(

BTromboneFrack Posted October 28, 2016 #39 Share Posted October 28, 2016 Wow, so many things, but here are the best..... The time in port right after you board and before departure... the whole cruise is in front of you for several hours. Going down to the lowest open deck at night when the seas are rough. Giant waves are like thunder against the ship, and hardly anyone is there. Opening the door to your room after a long day and night on board, then going out to the balcony to watch the moon and listen to the hiss of the sea. Watching all of the other ships on the cruise. What adventures are happening??? Sipping our wine we got in France last summer on our balcony before dinner while we watch everything going on in port. Staying on the ship when docked at a port we have already been to. The ship is OURS. Watching the land get smaller and smaller as we sail away from our first port..... Nobody can get to me (I'm a teacher). Most of the time -- not worrying if I am on time.
cuccicruisers Posted October 28, 2016 #40 Share Posted October 28, 2016 I always love that first morning....waking up before the kids and hubby. A nice walk while the sun is rising.....pausing to stare at the bluest of wake.....deep breath of spicy sea air......ahhhhhhh
Staceyface1 Posted October 28, 2016 #41 Share Posted October 28, 2016 The feeling of being on a boat... and the infamous "ding" of our S&S cards... ice cream... sunshine... everything. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

jsglow Posted October 28, 2016 #43 Share Posted October 28, 2016 (edited) I can relate to some of the OP's comments. For me, it's about the 'at sea' experience. I absolutely love sail away and the approach/departure from each and every port. While I don't always make it outside, especially when we get an OV, I cherish those early mornings in the gathering light when I can go outside with a cup of coffee and see the early lights as we approach today's island. I'll call it the Ferdinand Magellan affect. For me, that's what makes the sea different than other vacations. And while we're on a Carnival board here, that sense is even more magnified on a sailing ship. Edited October 28, 2016 by jsglow
just4cruzin Posted October 28, 2016 #44 Share Posted October 28, 2016 Pre-Cruise - Booking and planning is always a rush. Once on the ship - Hearing the "ding" as they log you in. Throwing the cell phone in the safe and getting away from the rat race. Spending quality time with my wife. Getting my next free cruise from the casino manager on the last day. Going for 5 straight! This also makes the last day just a little brighter.
bigmama9224 Posted October 28, 2016 #45 Share Posted October 28, 2016 Hey all, my favorite part of cruising is: Waking up in the morning to a port day, and not having to do the bed, go to breakfast and be served, not cleaning the table not doing dishes and not sweeping dining room after breakfast, just lazing around all day with no care in the world. That is truly a beautiful feeling.
WayTooCool Posted October 28, 2016 #46 Share Posted October 28, 2016 1. Drink of the day and cheeseburger right after boarding 2. Turn-Around day of a back-to-back cruise. Least favorite? Leaving!! Hate that so much. Looking forward to a b2b-b2b-b2b in January , yippeee!

ryanpatricksmom Posted October 28, 2016 #48 Share Posted October 28, 2016 My favorite time on a cruise is the first full day. All of the traveling headaches are over, but nearly the entire vacation is still ahead of you.
bakersdozen12 Posted October 29, 2016 #49 Share Posted October 29, 2016 (edited) Going to many different places and not having to arrange travel to each one. I love going to sleep and waking up in a new country. The feeling of being on a boat... and the infamous "ding" of our S&S cards... If you mean the "ding" you hear when you first board, it looks like we won't have that anymore once Carnival switches all ship to having the S&S cards delivered to people's mailboxes. I will miss this sound for sure. But oh well, it won't stop me from cruising! Edited October 29, 2016 by bakersdozen12
