Ocean Boy Posted November 11, 2016 #7 Share Posted November 11, 2016 People are far too busy wiping down the remote controls in their cabins to worry about dealing with this.

Lazz Posted November 11, 2016 #10 Share Posted November 11, 2016 I know of people who have brought home bedbugs from trips and it is a very rough and expensive time to get rid of them. Prevention is the best way to go. Check the room extensively and use some type of sealing cover for your suitcases and clothes. We even put our clothes and other items in XL Ziplock bags. Coralc Posted November 12, 2016 #11 Share Posted November 12, 2016 (edited) Well this sounds fun. Article thinks they came in through Port Canaveral. http://www.msn.com/en-us/health/medical/rare-bed-bug-re-emerges-in-fla-after-60-years/ar-AAk8pYi?li=BBnb2gg This should be in Florida Departures, sorry. I have asked them to move it Interesting. They obviously didn't crawl from Pt. Canaveral to Merritt Island. One of the journal articles states: " According to the homeowners, they believed a family member had unknowingly brought the bed bugs into the house and indicated that no one residing in the house had traveled outside of the state of Florida. Although the origin of the bed bug infestation could not be determined, the absence of international and national travel by the residents suggests that tropical bed bugs were present elsewhere in the state. Further studies are needed to determine the presence, establishment, and possible distribution of this species throughout the state." So an origin of Movie theater? Hotel? Boyfriend/Girlfriend's house? Part of my job is trying to determine the source of insect infestations. Exotic agricultural pests, thankfully, not bedbugs. :D Thanks for posting the article, that is very interesting, and slightly alarming. :D Edited November 12, 2016 by Coralc
Rare John&LaLa Posted November 12, 2016 Author #12 Share Posted November 12, 2016 I didn't dig deep enough I guess, interesting that in my original article the researcher did blame PC with no mention of the families travels. Coralc Posted November 12, 2016 #13 Share Posted November 12, 2016 You are absolutely right! The article does mention Port Canaveral....the question would be what sort of establishment did the family member pick them up in? :D:):D And I don't suppose we will ever know. Thanks! I thought it was interesting.
