my thoughts exactly lol I still would be concerned with my new car breaking down

I wonder what a new ship costs these days? Do they come with good warranties?

The apologists on this board are baffling.

Things break. Nothing to be an apologist about.

I would be also but it still happens and it's nothing to be surprised about.

Not the same thing. You are comparing apples to oranges. Cars are produced in mass numbers on an assembly line. This is one ship.

Built by fallible human beings. As I've said, things break. Even new things. I wouldn't imagine that this is making anyone at corporate jump with joy, that's for sure.

How old is the ship? Six months? Eight? When were the sea trials? Maybe it's a Made in Italy thing.

Especially not with the Dream having on going propulsion issues, and now the Liberty....

We just got off the Vista TA and did not have any issues.

It must have just developed???

Personally, I am glad they are using a new shipyard for the new ones.

The Dream and Magic both had propulsion issues brand new. There is no excuse for that.

How many times did your Navy vessel break down six months out of dry dock?

There were a few times we needed to fix things they messed up in the yards. Never kept track. We liked missing sea days though.:) I find it surprising that people are surprised that even new things break. It's not a novel concept.

Since the Ranger's been decommed since 1993 I'd be surprised if she was scheduled for a Gulf mission;).

I know, right? I can't remember any of the current carriers. Are they all nuclear now?

Yes, all Nimitz class although I understand the next generation is rolling out soon (in carrier years anyway). I served aboard the Eisenhower back in the day and it's hard to believe she's 41.

This isn't even the first time for the Vista. We sailed on the 10/01 out of Barcelona, and they were having propulsion issues a couple of cruises before ours. We were worried that it would affect our cruise...
